If You Want to Lose Weight, Move to New York City!
Fat in the City?
I've always had a weight problem but I've never been this fat in New York City before. What's it like living in Manhattan carrying around an extra xx pounds (did you really think I was going to tell you how much I weigh..dream on!)? It's pure hell that's what!
New York City is a walking town. Unless you have a wheelbarrow full of money and want to waste it on taking cabs you walk everywhere! And if you aren't walking you are taking the subway which involves climbing several mountains of steps and doing so quickly so that the hoardes behind you don't mow you down in their hurry to get wherever they are going.
If you need to lose ten, twenty, thirty or a hundred pounds you don't need to join a gym, you don't need to volunteer for America's Biggest Loser, you don't need to even go on a diet..all you need is to move to New York City and you WILL lose weight! You cannot maintain extra weight here and survive. It's too hard. Not only that but the whole reason you probably gained that extra weight will magicallly disappear in Manhattan. Face it, the reason you stuffed or I should say I stuffed my mouth before coming to Manhattan was that I was bored. I was bored because in most parts of the country there is NOTHING TO DO after 6:00 p.m. So what does the vast majority of middle-aged Americans do after they get off of work? They go home and they eat. They eat dinner, then they eat dessert, then they sit in front of the TV and eat more crap. We/They eat until they finally fall into a comotose, sugar induced, apnea laced sleep around 10:00 at night. Only to get up the following morning and do it all again.
Just Say NO to TV!
In New York City, things are very different. TV is not a draw, in fact, TV is downright boring compared to the activity on any given street at any given time in Manhattan. I don't know anyone who watches TV on a regular basis (unless we are counting the News and/or weather reports which for arguments sake we wont count).
Working Your A** Off, Literally!
The other thing about NYC is that people work a lot here. I have lived in quite a few other places in the United States and people don't work nearly as much in areas outside New York City as they do here. The reason, I think, is competition. If you so much as take a regular lunch break there are a thousand other job applicants that wont take a lunch break, so you work through your lunch and through your breaks. I know people who are so busy they have to wait until they are off work to even use the bathroom. Not eating lunch is another reason you will lose weight here. Then, there are the long hours. Forget the 9-5 thing, the minimum you will work is 10 hours, add a commute of at least 45 minutes each way and you are gone for about 12 hours out of your day. New Yorkers simply do not have time to overeat!
Walk This Way!
Another reason you'll lose weight if you move to New York City is there are so many things to see you end up walking for miles without even noticing it. Face it, in other places around the country, there is only so much to see. If you've seen one tree, you've seen them all! Here, not only do you have fabulous architecture to gawk at, there is always something going on and another historical site to see. You'll never exhaust this city! It will exhaust you but you will not exhaust it.
Best Food EVER!
The final reason that you will lose weight if you move to Manhattan is when you do eat, you will eat the BEST Friggen Food you've ever had in your entire life! I'm not exaggerating here. Manhattan has the best food ever! No bland, tasteless franchise food here, no way! The food you eat in Manhattan at even the mediocre restaurants far surpasses any Applebee's, Denny's or Olive Garden in the nether world outside the city. It's downright orgasmic. While you might think that having access to such wonderful meals would cause you to overeat it's actually just the opposite. When you eat food that is so good, every single bite is satisfying. You are satisfied beyond measure, so you don't crave junk food later. In fact, you actually want to be hungry to increase the pleasure of eating the next time. Not only that, you can't really overeat at a restaurant. I mean, they only give you so much and there are NO all you can eat places in the city (that I know of). So when you do eat, you can eat all your dinner because it's most likely, the only meal you will be eating that day.
So, forget about Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig or joining a gym. If you want to lose weight move to Manhattan and you will lose those extra pounds effortlessly in no time at all!
