Introduction to Inspirational Quotes

Some inspirational quotes are from from famous people, including authors and political figures, and some are ones I found in random books, articles and even inside fortune cookies.

Quotes for Achievement and Success

Be Successful

“Courage is the power to let go of the familiar.”

~By Raymond Lindquist

Reflective thoughts: So many times, we want to accomplish something and we need lots of courage to overcome the fear in us to achieve our goals. Remember to be courageous and try something new that you have never done before. The more new things you try, the more you will discover new ways to be successful in all you do.

“Know what you want and continue to want it. You will get it if you combine desire with faith. The power of desire when combined with faith becomes invincible.”

By Christian D. Larson, Your Forces and How to Use Them

Reflective thoughts: Faith is one the strongest ways you can change your life. If you truly believe in something, whether it’s a person, place or thing, you can achieve what you want. It’s not only a matter of wishing for something, like a happy relationship, a new job or a new beginning…it’s when you combine your wish with profound faith that you allow your dreams to come true.

Success | Source

“Your success will astonish everyone.”

~Author Unknown

Reflective thoughts: You know that wonderful feeling of accomplishment after you completed something, wrote something or designed something? It could be that you cooked your first full-course meal, made something in pottery class, wrote a short story, or got a new job. It can be anything you want it to be. The important thing is that you feel great about what you accomplished and when you are happy about your success, others will see it in you. You will radiate like the sun and others will be astonished by your success!

Success! | Source

“You will be fortunate in everything.”

~Author Unknown

Reflective thoughts: Some people seem to be successful in just about everything. Do you know anyone like this? You might be envious of them, or you might be jealous of them, or you may want to be just like them. Seeing, knowing and researching successful people will make you more successful. Surround yourself with happy, successful people. Read about successful people. Be a successful person!

“Mediocrity Always Attacks Excellence”

~By Michael Beckwith

“Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.”

~By Albert Einstein

Reflective thoughts: What do these quotes really mean? It is a reminder that if we think “excellence” and practice “excellence”, there’s always a chance that we may encounter opposition. Unsuccessful, negative minds tend to feel better by attacking others. It’s similar to the saying that misery loves company. If you surround yourself with negative people, expect to get attacked. Instead, surround yourself with others who believe in living, preaching and believing in excellence. When it’s not possible to do this, just keep a positive and calm outlook and don’t feed into the attackers.

Keep Learning
Keep Learning | Source

“What is important is to keep learning, to enjoy challenge, and to tolerate ambiguity. In the end, there are no certain answers.”

~by Martina Homer, 6th President of Radcliffe College

Reflective thoughts: You will encounter different things along the journey of life, whether it’s pebbles along the sand of a beach, making it hard to walk, steep steps to climb to reach the top, or confusion when starting or implementing a project. The important thing is to get past the rocky roads as you move forward to the smoother paths of life. Educate yourself everyday and be a sponge when it comes to learning. It will pay off in the end.

Morning Sunrise

“Tomorrow will be lucky and memorable for you.”

~Author Unknown

Reflective thoughts: This quote reminds of the “Tomorrow” song in the Annie musical. Although I think it’s important to be happy now and embrace the moment, it’s also a good idea to think about the joys and memories of what tomorrow will bring.

Path of Life
Path of Life | Source

“Make it a rule of life never to regret and never to look back.”

~Author Unknown

Reflective thoughts: Sometimes we tend to look back on decisions we made, or things that happened and we may say, I wish I never did that, or I regret making that decision. Instead, think about what you learned from the situation and use what you learned wisely for future decisions. Although you can’t change the past, you can change the future.

The World is in Your Hands
The World is in Your Hands | Source

“You will find your solution where you least expect it.”

~Author Unknown

Reflective thoughts: Ever wonder why some people seem to figure things out faster and easier than other people? Although it may seem that some people might have a knack at figuring out solutions to problems, it’s a matter of being inquisitive, being willing to research and troubleshoot and knowing that the answer is something in your reach. When a problem arises, just keep looking because the answer may either be right in front of your eyes, or in a hidden place where you might not tend to look. In other words, seek and you shall find!

Quotes for Loving Relationships and Personal Fulfillment

“Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.

Open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.”

~Instructions for Life in the new millennium from Dalai Lama

Reflective thoughts: Remember that when you want something bad enough, there may be risks involved, but by conquering your fears, and having strength and courage, success can be yours. By envisioning the light at the end of the tunnel, you get one step closer to your dream.

Open Arms

“When you learn to let go of things, a greater generosity, openness, and breath comes into your life.”

~by John O’Donahue

Reflective thoughts: Are you holding on to past loves and relationships? It’s ok to reminisce about good times, but if you’re holding on to something that has not manifested and it is preventing you from moving on with your life, letting it go will provide you with a sense of relief and help you see things more clearly. This could be a toxic relationship that makes you angry, or an opportunity that passed you by, or money you lost. Why harp on the past? Instead, let it go and look to your future, with open arms, and embrace life.

Circle of Friends
Circle of Friends | Source

“You have a great ability to make new friends.”

~Author Unknown

Reflective thoughts: As time goes by, we see some friends less and some friends more, and overtime, we may even lose touch with some of our closest friends. We always have the ability to meet new friends, and it’s so important to continue networking with others, whether online or face-to-face, to strengthen and build new relationships. If you haven't heard from some old friends lately, don't fret, and don't take it personally. People are busier than ever these days. Instead, reach out to a friend today, whether it be a friendly "Hello" text or an catch-up email. Your friend will appreciate it, and it make spark an idea for an impromptu get together.

Achieve Success

“With a little more hard work, your creativity takes you to great heights.”

~Author Unknown

Reflective thoughts: Whatever you dream may be, whether you want to reach the top of a lighthouse or mountain, or if you want to climb the corporate ladder, or have a successful family, with hard work, dedication and some creativity, coupled with a positive attitude, know that success can and will be yours, but you just have to believe that it can happen, and then make it happen.

Chinese Fortune
Chinese Fortune | Source

A lifetime of happiness lies ahead of you.

~Author Unknown

Reflective thoughts: I found this quote inside a fortune cookie. It made me stop and realize that better days are to come. When I felt down, I re-read this quote over and over and I envisioned a sunrise, a light at the end of a tunnel and a group of people waiting for me on the other side of the street, holding out their hand to help me cross the street. It made me realize that happier, better times were in my future.

Quotes for Financial Success

Large Amount of Cash
Large Amount of Cash | Source

“I am a money magnet. Money comes to me easily and effortlessly from known and unknown sources each and every day, which I receive with grace and gratitude."

~From “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrnes

Reflective thoughts: This quote is discussed in the video and book “The Secret”. If it’s money that you want, imagine that you are rich. Dream of writing that novel, or being hired as that executive…dress for success and look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that success and prosperity are in your reach. As you receive money, remember to be grateful for all that you receive.

Saving Money

"Think and Grow Rich"

~By Napoleon Hill

Reflective thoughts: How often have you said, I’ll have more money soon? Or I know I’ll be earning twice the salary next year? Instead, more often you may feel like saying, Oh, I can’t afford that. Or that’s too expensive. By following the law the attraction, it’s up to you to attract what you want it life, even if it’s money. Instead, say "I can afford that", and "There is more than enough money to go around." Remember that money can’t necessarily buy happiness, so as Suzie Orman says, “People first, then money, then things.

The Serenity Prayer

Finally, let’s not forget one of the greatest quotes of all times, which was originally written and adapted from an originally untitled prayer by theologian Reinhold Niebuhr:

So true, Tolovaj. I have a lot of quotes that I saved posted on a bulletin board near my desk and it really helps to keep me motivated! Someone recently told me another sort of quote (it's an acrostic)...write down the word BOSS vertically and then horizontally it mean B = Built, O = On, S = Self, S = Success. Makes total sense. :-)

Sometimes something as simple as a quote can change a life. I will always remember a quote repeated in a movie by Emir Kusturica (Every day in every aspect i make progress!) which was of course only a part of the story but still a part to remember. We all create our own realities, right?
