Is happiness personally a choice?
Is Happiness A Choice?
It's been said that "Happiness comes when something good happens to you". Some people portray true happiness as luck. Kind of like a poor man who wins the Powerball Jackpot Prize for $100,000,000.00. What if I told you that happiness wasn't luck? What if I told you that you can receive happiness every single day? What if I told you that happiness is a choice?
The answer to that question is happiness is a choice! The only person that can make you happy is you. I believe a lot of us are like moment waiters. Moment waiters is a person who waits on a specific moment or event that will drive them to happiness. If you are constantly waiting for that specific moment, you will be miserable for the rest of your life. So why wait for that specific moment when you can be happy right here, right now at this very instance?
I want you all to do something for me. I want you all to smile. I don't care if you don't feel like it or if you were having a bad day today. Just Smile! Studies indicate that an emotion filled face carries the influence over the feelings processed by the brain. In other words, you can reprogram yourself to happiness by choosing to smile.
Let me ask you a question. What obstacle in your life is so complicated and difficult that you can't smile? Is it the family drama? Baby mama or Baby daddy drama? Did you lose your job? Bills overdue? What is it? As you are reading this right now I can almost guarantee that many of you are saying to yourself, "Wisdom, you do not know my life! My life really is hard"! And you know what? That may be true and that I don't have a doubt. But I will tell you this. I know what it's like to love someone that don't love you back and the same woman I love get's pregnant by someone else. I know what it's like to have low self-esteem, depressed, and to feel like I have no hope. I know what it's like to have my lights, electric, and gas cut off. I know what it's like to get an eviction notice to my apartment and getting my car repo. I know what it's like to lose my 1 year old son from a heart murmur and to lose my best friend from a drive by shooting. I know what it's like to be homeless and having to wash up at the gas station bathroom. I had to search for food and try to find a shelter to stay at. I've been chased around and shot at BUT I am still here!
In spite of my struggles, I've never made excuses or blame anyone. I continue to smile, laugh, pray, and sing joyful songs to myself to bring my spirit up. Was it easy? Heck No! I've cried when nobody looking. I've been angry a few times and even curse. I'm human but I didn't let those obstacles get the best of me. In the mist of my troubles I began to realize that there is power in your mind, your words, and your action. With these 3 elements working together in faith, then you can accomplish more than you ever know.
How can I reach happiness? Sing, dance, play outside with your kids, nieces, or nephews, play with your pet dog or cat, watch a funny movie, go exercise, hang with your family and friends, do anything that make you laugh and smile. You will feel so alive and good about yourself. Don't wait to be happy but make yourself happy. We as people are so use to being depressed and feeling sorry for ourselves that we become comfortable to this attitude. If you really want happiness, then you need to break out this attitude and start doing things that make you happy. No matter how dark your situation may be, just know that there is always light at the end of the tunnel! Don't just choose happiness but be happiness and watch how your life dramatically change for the better.
