Is it Dog Food or as a Judge calls it Devil Food

Updated on December 2, 2009

Start the day with a bowl of cereal

For years I have tried to understand why people cannot give their children a good breakfast.  All it takes is to put a plate on the table and fill it with cereal and pour on the milk. What is hard about that?

When my friends children tell me they are going to McDonalds, I say oh no! That is dog food.  You should see their reactions.

I was a mystery shopper and because I had to eat McDonald’s food, I gave the job away.  It was too fatty for me.  Although I know that was ten years ago and I am told that their food has improved.

Breakfast at McDonalds

Yet every day, when I drove to work it used to fascinate me how people take their children to McDonalds for breakfast every morning. How can they live with themselves? What kind of start to a day is that for a child? What kind of lifestyle or example is this setting for their children?

They grow up not knowing any different; therefore they may do the same with their children. No wonder the world is becoming so overgrown with obese people. Yes I know there are also many medical reasons causing overweight people. I am, not having a go at them. That is not the reason for this article.

Encourage healthy eating for your children

I would just love to see more and more parents taking responsibility for their children’s health. Parents you need to set the example, by eating healthy yourself and sit down with your children and explain the benefits.

Bullying, abuse and criticism at school

Not only will it help your children to enjoy a healthier style of life.  It will also stop them from being picked on or laughed at in the play ground at school.

In my opinion, it is not encouraging any family to learn how to eat healthily.  As parents, we need to encourage a healthier way of life. Ok, an occasional treat I can accept, but a simple healthy bowl of cereal is so much healthier than takeaway foods.

Judge Bans Devil Food

And I Quote from a newspaper article - Master chef Judge George Calombaris has panned the shows biggest advertiser. McDonalds, describing the burger chain as “the devil food.”

The outspoken chef forbids his nieces and nephews from eating processed food from Macca’s.  He says his nieces and nephews don’t know what a burger tastes like at McDonald’s because they do not let them eat there.  He also says that he despises all the fast-food chains.  He asked, “Why would you eat that stuff when it’s so easy to make good hamburgers at home?

I read this and just had to agree with him.  What is your opinion on this article.

If people you know eat too many takeaways why not forward this or a similar article to them to encourage healthier eating.

Excellent hub. I cook 7 days a week. My kids occasionally have fast food, but not much. They are teenagers with their own money so when they eat fast food I don't buy it. In the United States there is a fast food place at every corner in every town. We are a hurry up society and fast food is fast and easy. It's a shame. So very bad for you.
