Quality Health In Retirement
Health And Fun in Retirement
Number one, we ( women ) feel better, no more PMS, relaxed attitude with opposite sex ie. we can all be true, and platonic friends without being a threat to anyone, we can actually flirt innocently, without it being construed otherwise, and that goes for both male and female, which makes it more fun in a social setting, because nobody takes it seriously, and we all enjoy the camaraderie.
Travelling and vacations can also be more enjoyable, relaxing and inspiring. Therefore,it pays to keep healthy, fit and happy.
I guess every age has it's advantages!!
While we are more fearful of some things, we have also lost our fear of other things, like standing up for our rights when we feel an injustice has been done, speaking out and not really caring what anyone else thinks of us, unlike the "olden days", especially for women.
The Brazen Sixties
Oh I know, we had the Bra Burners of the sixties, not to mention The Suffragettes of their day, but I think for all generations, when we get to a certain age we come to a "mellowing time" when I believe we are more conscious of our world in a different way than before, and we are also more empathetic to people in general, children, and young adults in particular.
If we could only turn back the clock and apply all our experience to the present what a world of difference we could make.
Alas, it is what it is.
C'est la vie.
Grandparenting - What Joy
What a rewarding experience grandparenting is!! "If I'd known how enjoyable it is, I'd have done it first."
And, to quote my son-in-law's Gran, "lucky are we who get to look after our grandchildren". She is, I think about 96 years old now and was a very glamorous GG ( GreatGrandma ) who enjoyed looking after her two grandchildren, one of whom is my daughter's lovely husband.
I like to think that his beloved Gran has an influence on his attitude to all who know and love him, and his world around him, as did my parents with my children, to a lesser degree, because of my parent's much larger, extended family. And if I and my husband can add any beneficial influences at all to our grandchildren then how happy we will be.
Thankfully we love and enjoy them all very much, and can't imagine our lives without them.
Teaching them to play Chess, Beading, Knitting, Sewing, making Pancakes, Painting, helping with Maths, etc. is all delightful.
Timeless Memories - Lorikeets, Who Frequent Our Garden Much To Our Delight And Pleasure
Now why can't we remember the same activities being equally delightful with their parents, our children!!?
Time, we never had enough of it, when it really counted, and we never realized how very short childhood is. We had to wait until we became grandparents, to learn what time is all about.
Laughing, relaxing, and enjoying the moment is what I want to convey to my grandchildren. There's nothing I love more than watching ours playing "Cafe Cousins" in our garden. Being allowed the time to use their imagination, and us taking the time to enjoy it all.
The plotting of the Menu, the prices, the setting up of the tables, with tea sets and cutlery, the drinks from our little water feature, the "food', leaves, berries and petals from the garden, (when our beautiful birds didn't eat them all), and then all of us adults dragged outside to "taste" these beautiful treats at their "Restaurant".
Long may their innocence last. For me anyway, there's nothing like it!!
What better way to spend a rainy day, than a game of chess or backgammon. Great fun with the kids!
Quick and easy, fun for all the family.
Many lovely treats can be cooked in this Waffle Maker.
All my grandchildren, including the boys, love beading, especially making necklaces and bracelets for Mother's Day and Birthdays.

When the children and grandchildren have all gone home, do we just want to sit moping, or fill our time with other interesting pursuits?
I know I want as full a life as I can have, and I'm not ready to join the blue haired brigade, not for a long long time. In other words I have retired to something very interesting which involves the freedom to travel!
