How to know your limit? No crossing of lines!

Updated on November 8, 2013

What will happen if countries misuse their boundary line?

There will be unrest and turmoil in the world. There have been wars related to the conflicts regarding the crossing of boundary from the other country.

How will you feel if someone intrudes into your home uninvited?

You are outraged, indignant and furious with anger and regret.

Are there boundary line in life also?

When you cross the border line, there are lots of bitterness and remorse. In every relationship there is a thin line running and your eyes and mind must be open to see that you do not cross your limits.

Dividing line between you and your children!

You think your children are from you and you have every right to control their life. You interfere in their day to day activities, question them for their actions and in the whole make their life miserable and intolerable.

You should realize that though your children are from you, they can never be you.

Why do you expect your children to be like you?

They are individual with ideas of their own and only when they are individualistic and different will they be able to be successful in life. You should know that with your children also you have a boundary line and when you do not cross it and interact with them within your limits; you can have the respect and admiration of your children.

Your spouse has his\her own dividing line!

Another misuse of not knowing your limits is your relationship with your spouse. You feel that you have all the rights in the world to do or say anything to your spouse. You unintentionally bruise the self respect of your spouse and poke your nose even into the small wishes of her\him. The result is bitterness and widening of rift between the two of you.

She\he is an individual!

When you realize that your spouse is an individual and he\she should be respected, your marriage will have happiness and cheerfulness. Knowing your limits do not mean you have to keep a distance from your spouse, it just means you have to give her\him that much of breathing space so that he\she does not feel cramped and fettered.

Dividing line in work place

In your work place also it is always better to know your limits with your colleagues, your boss and your higher officials. You cannot behave with your boss as you do with your colleagues and you cannot interact in a free manner with your higher officials as you do with your friends or colleagues.

When you know the boundary line, you know where to stop. This is the best way to lead your life and when you master this trick you lead your life without fearing the lash back from the intruded side. You are an individual and others too are individuals, so do not cross lines into their domain.

When you realize your limits, you get respect and admiration from everyone and you find it a lot easier to lead your life peacefully. If on the other hand you fret and fume that you cannot have a say in the life of your close ones, you are bound to feel regret and unhappiness creep in your life.

it's easy to assume that our limits are the same as others. Although there are social norms and expectations, it is essential that we understand individuality exists. Respect boundaries is fundamental in any relationship.

Mathira, thank you so much for that reminder full of wisdom and love. Yes, love makes you realize not to do to others things that hurt, especially in the long run. I just had an experience when I almost forgot and I go confused and hurt...then meditated and realized that this is not my life and I can not make decisions. I also remember that any time I feel like I am about to say or feel something wrong when it comes to my spouse. I remember he is his own person and has the right to be him. I know so many pains and sorrows came from knot knowing that limit, We enjoy relationship and more better when knowing where not to no consequences for others and ourselves. Mathira thank you. This message comes on point.
