What could I possibly have in common with all these very clever & talented people ??
I am left handed like them , well similar .seven to ten percent of the adult population are left-handed , roughly one out of ten.
I write with my left hand however I use my right hand for scissors the mouse of the computer and other things
.My biggest problem at school was sitting to the right of a right-handed person. Our elbows would keep bumping into each other all the time or if eating a meal , I like to sit on the end of the table .
As far as using an iron , well my brain seems to get confused as to which hand to use so I never do a very good job when it comes to ironing !
My father tried to teach me how to knit when I was young ,however he soon gave up as I just couldnt get the hang of it !
So why are we left handed ?? Is it a disability ?
Years ago children would get punished at school for writing with their left hand and hit with a paddle every time they used their left hand to write. It was forbidden to be left-handed. Can you believe that?!?!
People who are left handed use the right side of the brain most while right handed people use the left side of the brain most. And if you are ambidextrous you probably use both sides of your brain about the same amount..
There are many articles on what left handed people are more prone to than right handed however from what I have read apart from the inconvenience of having to find products you can use with ease it doesn't seem like major problem.
There is a shop with everything a left hand er might need to buy ! I think I went into it while overseas years ago!
Learning to write can be more difficult for left-handed children because the left hand, as it moves across the page, covers the words that were just written.
Don't try change them into a right handed person like the old days just help them by
Providing a beginning writer a pen or pencil that will not smear and encourage him or her to hold it far enough from the point so that he or she can see what he or she has written.
