Painful End To An Afflicted Heart- a poem

Updated on January 30, 2013

I hardly knew him

But he looked to be an honest young man.

His cheerfulness and love for life

Were the only things

His friends would remember.

But no one knew what

He harbored deep inside;

The pain of not liking himself?

The stress of not achieving enough?

His true identity not being accepted?

Was he ill?

Was he depressed?

Thousands of questions will

Encircle in everyone's minds.

Only God knows the time and the hour

Of anyone's life to end-

Let us only hope that

The Almighty

Is willing to forgive

Those who decided to

Destroy

The plan for His Creation.

Tragic affliction of destroying one's own beating heart.

Unfortunately, young individuals have:

Surrendered to the

Unexpected

Interruption

Created by

Indignation,

Driven to

Expiration

How very sad when someone commits suicide, so many questions left unanswered. This has happened in my family and the feeling remains, what could i have done? Thank you...

Thank you Debbie, ImKarn23, vocalcoach, and ,Faith Reaper. Yes Debbie, this is the poem I told you about. My daughter showed me a photograph of a young man whom she knew from her high school social circles and she mentioned that he may have killed himself. The more I saw this young man's face the more I was urged to express myself about what may have happened to this young man who was around the age of 21. Such loss..... but by writing about it strengthens my faith in God to understand His place in our lives is so important.

My message to everyone who reads about this or knows some young person who is lost.... make sure that they know there is Hope and that there is God, and all they need to do is to strive for their Heart's desire.

such dark hopelessness! These words hurt my heart - no matter how beautifully they are set to paper..

we - each and every one of us- need to be MORE aware - when in fact - every day we are becoming LESS..

People walk around with their heads stuck in their iphones, ipads, tablets (asses?) - you name it- in the end, it's called oblivion!

The world's becoming a very frightening and lonely place...

it's terrible to know that some sad, sensitive souls see no other way to cope...

Your words put into poetry is a perfect description on an on-going problem. How important it is for us all to remember your poem and try to "be there" for each other.

Up and more and sharing. Well done!

Very sad, when no one really knows what is going on in the mind of another, and maybe could have helped. Excellent poem on such a very sad and disturbing fact in the brutal life. Makes one think that if just one person would have reached out, but as you say, only God knows.

      Voted up +++ and sharing.

God bless. In His Love, Faith Reaper
