New Year's Resolution Take Two

How many of us have said, "This year I am going to finally lose that extra weight!" Be it 5 lbs, 10 lbs, or 50 lbs. We all have great ambition to take off the extra weight and feel good again. I started out well, then slowly the rush of life crept back in and boom...my resolution took a back burner to laundry, working, kids activities, and just pure exhaustion. Well, after much prayer and I'll admit a little condemnation of myself, I finally decided it was time to make a real change. In this hub, I am going to track my commitment to this change. My husband recently had a job change that has him getting up at 5:20 am. Now, normally, I would just stay in my cozy bed and wait for my alarm to go off an hour late! Afterall, I told you I am exhausted! However, last night I decided to spend the next 4 weeks getting up with him every morning and doing a workout tape. What tape of the many did I choose? Lelie Sansone's walk at home: Walk Way Your Waistline! I have used this tape sporadically in the past, but this time, I am going to comit to you my readers and to myself to spend the next 4 work weeks, getting up with my husband and working out with Leslie Sansone. I am going to track my progress here.

Since several of my readers are coworkers, I am not going to reveal my weight at this time, but I will suffice it to say that I need to lost 50 lbs. I will give you my progress in pounds lost as I progress.

Progress Tracking

Day One - Monday, February 18

I pressed past the urge to stay in my warm cozy bed and got up! Goal 1 achieved! I then popped in my dvd of "Walk at Home" and decided to do one mile. One mile takes a little over 15 minutes, well my adreneline kicked in and poof...I made it to 2 miles! Now, I probably could have done a little more, but I wanted to have time to record my progress with you and get this hub started. I feel really good! Now off to get a much needed shower and ready for work! Hope to see you back here tomorrow!

Day Two - Tuesday, February 19

It was a little easier to get up this morning. I hope it keeps getting easier, but only time will tell. I will say that having this hub to update does give me a little extra motivation! I don't want to let my readers down! I again completed 2 miles. This time, I held 3 pound weights while doing the full two miles. Yesterday, I only made it 1 mile with the weights. Leslie's video provides a walking belt, but since we moved this past summer...I can't find mine! So, weights it is. I did weigh myself yesterday and today. I have lost 0.4 pounds. Not very impressive, but at least it is going in the right direction and it didn't take me 1 day to put this weight on, even if it does seem like it! Check back tomorrow for my next update!

Day Three - Wednesday, February 20

I wish I could tell you that I jumped out of bed this morning excited to do my workout, but that's not the way it went down! I felt exhausted, but I dragged my big butt out of bed because I know that it is too many days staying in bed to the alarm that has gotten me to where I am. So, I pulled myself up, donned my workout clothes and popped my dvd in the player. I decided to start with mile 2 and go from there this morning. So, I completed 25 minutes of workout with all of mile 2 and part of mile 3! I did not use the hand weights today to give my arm muscles time to recoup, but will pick them up again tomorrow. I will admit that I have had way more energy during the day since starting to workout in the morning and I think my husband is impressed that I have gotten up with him every morning this week! The scale didn't budget today, but my pants feel like they fit a little better and my butt feels tighter! Now, I just need my belly to shrink and I will feel like it is all worth the struggle! Oh, and I shared with my coworkers my 20 day challenge and one of them actually asked me yesterday, "Did you workout this morning?" It felt great to tell him, "Yes, I did 2 miles!" I was really pleased that he asked! Accountability is what will keep me going, oh yeah and the desire to finally lose this weight, that too...Check back tomorrow for my next update.

Day Four - Thursday, February 21

Well, I survived Day Four and feel pretty good about my exercise commitment. I really blew it with my diet yesterday though. I was stressed about some things at work and really missing my family. So, I gave in to emotional eating. This is not to say I am defeated, just that I messed up yesterday and now I need to get back on track today. My goal is to really focus next week on exercise and what I am putting in my mouth. I know if i can get both of them in sync that the weight will slowly fall off. I am proud of myself for what I have accomplished this week. I have gotten up every morning with my sweet husband and I have done 25-30 minutes of workout each morning! See you tomorrow for my final update of the this week! Yeah!

Day Five - Friday, February 22

Sorry I did not get my update on this morning! I did stay in bed an extra 5 minutes before getting up and I had to get my son to school early today to play intramurals. So, I just didn't have time for an update! I did however have time for my workout! I did it! I completed my first work week of getting up everyday to workout with Leslie Sansone! 1 week down 3 to go to reach my first goal! I feel great! Although, I am very tired and need to get some much needed sleeping in time this weekend, but honestly, it was really not all that bad and I am very proud of myself for reaching this first goal. Now, next week I am going to add healthy eating with my morning workout. Fingers crossed, the weight will start falling off! I hope you all have a great weekend and check back on Monday to monitor my progress!

Day Six - Monday, February 25

I was tired getting up this morning, but got right to my workout and felt great when I finished my two miles! I used the 3 pound weights for the full 2 miles. Oh and the best news of all...I lost 1.4 pounds! Small triumphs! Check back tomorrow! Oh and check my hub about emotional eating!

Day Seven - Tuesday, February 26

Only did one mile today, but held the three pound weights to keep all muscles engaged. I felt good when I finished, especially when I weighed myself...3 pounds lighter! Yes! A little more motivation to keep going! Seven days down thirteen to go! At least to reach my first goal of 20 mornings of "Walk Away the Pounds" with Leslie Sansone. Then we shall see where my New Years resolution will carry me next! Until then...stay tuned for another update tomorrow!

Day Eight - Wednesday, February 27

Yeah, two miles again today! I feel great and am getting in the routine of this working out...still not addicted, but getting warmer! I think my hubby is impressed I am still going strong. He is a big motivation though because I want him to be proud of me. I know that probably sounds silly, access noticing means a lot to me. I also want my readers to be motivated...are ya feeling motivated? I gained a few ounces back, But I am Not giving up. Tomorrow's another day and I just have to keep on going! My clothes are fitting better and I am proud of myself. Still working on the healthier eating, but it is better this week than last. So small steps in the right direction! Hope to you back back here tomorrow for my next update!

Day Nine - Thursday, February 28 and Day Ten, March 1

Sorry for not updating you yesterday, it was just a busy day and evening. I did work out Thursday morning and was very motivated. I did 1 mile with the 3 pound weights and then did a full Pilates DVD. I have been feeling very stressed lately, so I wanted to do some Pilates to try to recharge and work on my flexibility, as well. I had a very hard time getting up this morning (Friday) because I am just exhausted, but I rolled out of bed and got changed in my workout clothes. I managed to do 25 minutes of the Walk Away Your Waistline, which I think is a little over a mile and a half because 31 minutes is 2 miles. I then popped in my Pilates take again and completed all of it. It is just a beginner tape, but the focus on breathing and stretching always makes me feel more relaxed. I am still just maintaining the 3 pounds I lost, but I do feel better. My clothes are fitting me well again and I have that feeling of using my muscles without being overly sore. 10 days down - 10 days to go! Check back Monday for week 3 of my 4 week goal!

Day 11 - Monday, March 4 and Day 12 - Tuesday, March 5

Well, I was getting bored with the same workout everyday, but I wanted to stick with Leslie Sansone to see if I could truly "Walk Away the Pounds." So, I headed to my local store and bought a new DVD. how exciting! There were two choices and I selected "Leslie Sansone's Walk at Home: Walk Slim 5 Really Big Miles." I was hoping for something a little different to change things up a little and keep me motivated in the last two weeks of my 20 day challenge. The DVD promises an "invigorating walk!", has strength training listed during miles 2 and 4 and comes with a toning band. I was expecting the same old thing when I popped in the DVD Monday morning, but boy was I in for a pleasant surprise. First of all, you can start at any mile with this DVD and there is a timer that counts you down to finishing the mile! This really helps me mentally to see that the time is going down and the routines, though similar, are much higher intensity! I really felt like I had done something when I finished mile 1 and then mile 2 gave me a great aerobic and strength training workout! I was actually excited to workout Tuesday morning because I couldn't wait to see what mile 3 and 4 had to offer! Well, let me tell you that they did not disappoint. This time adding in "Turbo Charge" sessions which had jogging and high knees. I was able to easily finish the workout, but definitely felt that I had done a more challenging workout. I love it! I may even do miles 2 and 4 on the weekends, as they are more toning focused and would give me that added boost of muscle tone! I have not lost much weight, but my clothes fit better and my buns are feeling firm! Can't wait to workout tomorrow!

Day 13 - Wednesday, March 6

Woke up to a surprise this morning...Snow day! Of course, teachers still have to report to work, but I did get to sleep in for another thirty minutes! Yea! So, I decided to take my DVD in with me to school and workout in the afternoon. This time I did mile one and five. I had to repeat one of the miles and I truly liked the changes in steps in mile one, so decision made and workout complete. I feel wonderful! A little sore, but mostly just in a good way like I am waking up muscles that have not been used in awhile! See you back here tomorrow for another update!

Day 14, Thursday, March 7 and Day 15, Friday, March 8 -

Well, snow day behind me and back to normal routine for these last two workouts this week! I actually woke up excited to work out on Thursday and Friday! I am hoping this is a good sign that I am getting the "exercise bug," but too soon to know for sure. This could just be a fluke! I completed miles 1 and 2 on Thursday. Mile 1 is aerobic with great steps and high intensity! Mile 2 is strength training focusing on your arms. Friday, I did miles 2 and 4 because those are both strength training. Mile 4 is lower and upper body with "boost walking" in intervals. This involves jogging, high knees and grapevines, to name few. I REALLY love this DVD. Can't wait until my workout Monday to keep this party going! Oh and the best news...I have lost 6.8 pounds! Yipee! However, I will say that besides stepping it up in intensity with this new DVD, I have also been making much healthier choices in what I am putting in to my mouth. That being said...God is good and I am blessed! See you next week for the last 5 days in my 20 day challenge! I can't believe I am so close to completing this! Yea!

Day 16, Monday, March 11 and Day 17, Tuesday, March 12 -

Sad News for my readers...Daylight Savings time and my long hike on Saturday kicked my butt and I stayed in my warm cozy bed Monday morning instead of working out. The sad part is that I did not even go back to sleep because I just kept thinking, I should get up and work out! My guilt was fully set in by Monday night and I was inspired to get up and workout even harder on Tuesday. So, Tuesday morning, I did the first 3 miles of the dvd! I felt great! So, back on track and pushing the limits! See you back tomorrow!

Day 18, Wednesday, March 13 -

I conquered Daylight Savings Time Blues and rolled my slightly less fat butt out of bed, pulled on my workout clothes and started my new favorite DVD! I started at mile 3 and went all the way to the end of the video! 3 miles again today! I am so proud of myself! Tomorrow, I am going to attempt the unthinkable...4 miles! Say some prayers for me tonight ladies and gents! See you back here tomorrow!

Day 19, Thursday, March 14 -

Four miles! Yeah! I started out with Mile 1 and just kept going...all the way through mile 4! I feel really great! I have lost a total of 8 pounds...Still a long way to go, but making progress and I can feel my muscles toning up, which is fantastic! I am going to extend my goal to 30 days!

Day 20, Friday, March 15 -

Well, unfortunately, I still had to get up early, but I did not have time to workout! My twins are having their birthday party tonight and I had to finish frosting their cupcakes and getting ready for the party! The kids will be arriving right after we get home from school, so it all has to be completed this morning! I did walk a couple laps at work, but not really enough to call a work out! So...Monday will have to be my true day 20! Monday was day 20 and I feel wonderful! I have only lost about 10 lbs, but I have gained a lot of muscle, have more energy and my clothes are looser! I would definitely recommend this system for health and steady weightloss. I am going to keep working o.ut every morning, but sample different workouts for 10 days at a time to review for my readers. I want normal people who are trying to lose weight to know if the system is workable and brings about weightloss. So if you are an average person, overweight and wanting to know what is out there that works, check back to my crazyteacher hubpages site often! Until then, keep moving and be well!

Way to go Marquelle!! I know you can do it. It sure is hard but you will be so happy when the positive results continue on the scale and in your overall well being. Maybe your motivation will help to motivate me to complete my 30 day shred video that I gave up a long time ago. Keep it up!

One of my coworkers just did gluten free for two weeks and lost 5 lbs. So, I know that plays a big part, but that food is so much more expensive! Thank you for reading my hubs! I enjoy your comments!

Who says you need workout clothes? Some mornings I just put on a bra and workout in my PJs. Don't set yourself up with anything for an excuse...just get on the treadmill! Or better yet, go walk the mall! That would be my first choice in winter! You might even check to see if there is a mall walking club! But don't wear your PJs to the mall please! LOL

Well...My friend Anna got me out of the house on a hike Saturday for an extra workout! We took a really long, beautiful hike in Pisgah Forest! Started around 11 and ended at 2:41! I felt great getting outside and moving! What a great day! My knees are a little sore this morning and my feet, but I feel great that I got outside and did a weekend workout! Yeah! Thanks Anna!
