Fruits, calories and lowest calorie fruits

This hub page contains information on lowest calorie fruits.

The term 'fruit' can have different meanings. According to botanical terms, a fruit is a fleshy structure of a plant containing seeds. Most edible fruits are known to us and account for a considerable fraction of our diet.

Generally, fruits are rich in fiber and nutrients which are essential for us. Most fruits are low in calories compared to other food types we consume. Calories in fruits come mostly from the natural sugars they contain. Also, the sweet taste of many raw fruits is a result of these natural sugars.

Calories in fruits

As mentioned earlier, fruits contain low amounts of calories compare to most other food types. But there are certain fruits which contain relatively high amounts of calories as well. A good example can be avocado.

As we all know, our body weight can be controlled by controlling the amount of calories we eat. Both fruits and vegetables are good components to include in your diet if you are trying to lose weight as they are rich in nutrients and low in calories. Most fruits contain high amounts of water and this can help maintain fluid balance of the body as well.
