Omega 3 fish oil supplements and research

Updated on December 25, 2011

The most important supplement you'll ever need

Fish oil helps prevent you from having a stroke and heart attack. Throughout Europe, where doctors are more serious in preventative medicine, virtually every heart patients are placed on fish oil. Here in the United States, we're just starting to get this concept.

When plaque builds up on the arterial walls and then bursts, it brings about what's known as thrombosis, or simply put a blood clot. If that clot develops in an artery in the brain, or if a part of clot breaks free and deposits in a brain artery, it leads to a stroke. When the clot clings to an artery in the heart, it causes a heart attack. Alarming medical research has shown that omega 3 fatty acids cuts down plaque development and they help make platelets less adhesive, so they are likely to stop clots before they can trigger any harm.

Fish oil has proven to help lower breast, colon and prostate cancers. These are generally several of the most frequent types of cancer and they usually are fatal if not caught early. There's no doubt that either you or someone you know has one or more of these cancers. Scientific research shows us that omega 3's guards normal, healthy cells and suppresses their progression into cancerous cells, prevent dangerous cellular growth and encourages apoptosis, which is the death of abnormal mutated cancer cells.

One current analysis introduced by Dr. Ron Pardini, a biochemistry professor and associate director of the Neveda Agricultural Experiment Station at the University of Nevada, had reported in the Journal of Nutrition and Cancer that essential fatty acids that are present in Omega 3 dramatically decreased the growth of cancer cells. Applying high dosages of fish oil and Omega 3’s apparently “cured” his neighbor, a 78 year old man, of terminal lung cancer. He has been informed he merely had a couple of months to live. That was 10 years ago back in 2000. Now there are a number of reports on fish oil results in cancer both in medical research and the public but this unique case is still incredibly important due to the fact that it's the very first of its kind effectively fighting against lung cancer in the United States.

Fish oil appears to lower depression and psychosis. Fish oil isn't going to just make you smarter. In fact, psychiatric research studies in England has discovered that fish oil significantly lowers the signs and symptoms of depression, bipolar disease and psychosis. By now it's already well established that fish oil sharpens memory and intelligence. DHA and EPA omega 3 fatty acids aid to improve memory, concentration, focus, and sharpen the mind. Scientific tests involving students demonstrate that fish oil supplementation substantially enhanced attention span, memory recognition, increased IQ levels and given better concentratration.

Fish oil minimizes pain and inflammation. Omega 3's are natural anti-inflammatory that helps withstand soreness and inflammation. Fish Oil assists in reducing pain and develops joint activity and range of motion in critical conditions, such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and pretty much just about everything that ends in the suffix "itis. " You are not able to receive the omega 3 fats you need by eating, unless you're a true seafood lover and you enjoy consuming huge amounts of fish - you'd be risking taking in unwanted toxins that you don't want in your body. Take the safer, easier, more effective way out and supplement with fish oil capsules. Of all the supplements, this is one you just can't live without since your body can't produce certain Omega 3 fatty acids on their own and also the brain is composed of 30% DHA. Plus you shouldn't risk putting toxins such as mercury into your body.
