Makes One Wonder???

Updated on April 2, 2011

Its our choice!

This thing we all enjoy and call progress does have pros an cons.  I am here to first acknowledge that I have fallen off of this balance-beam many times of the right and wrong of it all.  Oh yes I am the one that goes right out and tries all the latest gadgets and never at that moment gave a thought to what it took to manufacture it or the cost or damage that will follow in its wake.

Maybe if we take a quick glance over our shoulder at the past and compare what we now ignore and take for granted it might show the direction we are headed.

Yes we have all came to those cross--roads and of choosing which way to turn---right or left.  Now my friends it is time to really stop and make much better decisions on which path we are to take.

Examples:

Again we have a choice.  We can stay with the greed that drives this luxury that makes many everyday products easy for us to ignore  OR we can choose to have clean water and a cleaner environment.

We are all complaining about the food prices at out local grocery store, yet we will plant flowers in our yards and complain about the weeds that grow there.  Your parents and grandparents planted a garden and did not use chemicals on them.  Your body is like this planet we live on it can only take so much abuse.  REMEMBER---  (you are what you eat.)

Yes my friends I think it is time stop WONDERING about it and start DOING!

Hey femme, I proved that about a car & parking with my crazy humor in (I'm doing it---My Way.)

REMEMBER A DAY WITHOUT HUMOR IS A DAY WASTED.

      Ginn,

This was wonderful. And, I laughed and agreed with dahoglund's remark about a new car being the equivalent of improvement, lol. I concur!

You've done a great job of laying the spread on the table here!

dahoglund I learned long ago that to improve yourself you have to keep learning NEW THINGS. Funny, I never stop and think if I can do something new---I just figure if that person can do it---then I CAN. People today are so hung-up in negative thoughts and what if they failed and didn't do it perfect then they missed the effort of the knowledge they gained from it.

I was taught "the only time you fail --is if you don't try."

I taught this to my children (jerlee wei) I think you know here on HP and I'm proud to say she has proven it is true. thanks.

Of all the things I have been accussed of, I don't think progress was one of them.Years ago I was riding with the woman editor of the weekly I worked for and mentioned that if my car broke down I would probably buy another old car.

"But you wouldn't be improving yourself," she said.

Somehow I never thought of buying cars as any way improving myself.

Thanks thoughtforce, It seems that MOTHER NATURE is speaking loud and clear to us---but how many are really listening?

I love this hub and the message is spot on! We can’t have it all and I am afraid that the current direction is pointing at full speed in the wrong direction. We only have one planet and we must take good care of it before it is too late. You have succeeded in making this message beautiful! Voted up!

Sorry it took me so long to get to these words of wisdom. I was offline for a little while.

Sometimes I think about my Grandparents and I smile at how I thought they were so old-fashioned. They knew how to survive!

Nancy, yes it is all right in front of us--its called greed and if you follow the money-trail you can see it is headed down a dead-end path. Thanks!

Ginn, you have echoed my thoughts concerning the greed that drives out society and businesses. My issue, and has been for years, is the use of nuclear power in supplying electricity. We don’t need the horrific devastation this type of plant can bring upon the world as a whole. Just look at what Japan is going thru right now. The

use of these plants are driven the greed of investors, special interest and politicians.

Our environment and livelihoods are at stake and now they want to mine the Grand Canyon for uranium to feed the monsters…
