Med-minders allow caregivers or family to track medications as they are filled and dispensed.

Caregivers are often family members and have access to elder family members medication. Family caregivers often dispense medications as a part of the daily activities.

  • Order Medications in Bubble Pack Form

Medications are offered in bubble pact form by pharmacies and are a convienient way to track medications. The dosage is packaged in a single bubble and can be popped out routinely as perscribed.

  • Utilize In-Home Care Agency for Medication Management

In-Home care agencies offer medication management programs to help elders remain independent in their homes. Typically the services of an In-Home care helper is about $20.00 per hour. Check with your local providers for programs and costs.

  • Ask for a Complete Medication Review

Periodic medication reviews by pharmisists help to prevent any issues associated with medications taken by elders. Often elders have several doctors perscribing medications and may perscribe medications that counteract one another.

      Very helpful hub! My parents are in their 80's. Mom suffered a debilitating stroke 12 years ago and Dad has Alzheimers. We are facing these dilemmas as a family and it is tough. We are always interested in learning how others manage. Thank you for writing about this issue.
