After seeing an easy away to access mango meat on Facebook, I bought a few. I had one last week and was delighted with the flavor and sweetness. Halfway through the fruit, I accidentally ate some of the skin. At first I was alarmed but, feeling no bitterness on my palate, I decided to eat more of the very thin skin. It was not bitter but had a mild citrus flavor. I had washed the skin well and was not afraid of pesticides. After reading your article and noticing no negative reaction to the skin, I am now a fearless consumer of mangoes! Plus, they are being sold for 99 cents at my local Grocery Outlet. I decided to eat no more that one mango every other day. Is that too much? (Thank you for your article!)

I had a poison ivy rash and wanted to build my resistance to it because I work outdoors and it is everywhere. Ate some mango with skin, good as eating a leaf of poison ivy and much more delicious! I love mangoes!

You need to put in a warning that some people can have allergies to Mango skin because it comes from the same family as poison ivy and oak. I just spent $56 because I ate Mango skin and it gave me hives, blisters on my lip and a rash near my eye.

All praising their addiction to mangoes and not one mention the variety; I.e. Hayden, Kent, etc. they all can't have the same composition as you will find just by the texture, flavor, etc.

Yes, i would love to visit India, specially the Taj Mahal. The Indian and Pakistani mangoes are delicious, juicy and sweet, just had them earlier. I also made a sauce out of green mangoes today. I think you might know which sauce?

This is great information. We love mangoes around here. India is showing us new (to us) things to do with the fruit. How will I ever live without mango chutney, now that I know?

See, some of the mangoes we grow have very caustic skin. It can even blister your lip. Next time I eat the milder kind, I will give it a try.
