Recumbent Exercise Bike - Marcy Me 709

Updated on February 21, 2016

Marcy Me 709 Recumbent Exercise Bike Review

Many shoppers are looking for an exercise bicycle that is reliable, effective, sturdily built, but also easy on the budget. Of course, not many exercise bikes on the market are able to fill all these criteria at once, but one of the models that comes close is the Marcy Me 709 Recumbent Exercise Bike. (Exerpeutic Folding Magnetic Upright Bike is also a strong option).

Marcy’s business model is based on producing high quality equipment with well-built parts and components, and not on adding all the trendiest features and options.

Resistance of Marcy Mag Cycle

Everyone knows that keeping variety in your workout routine is key to sticking with it. With this in mind, the Marcy Me 709 Recumbent Exercise Bike Exercise Bike was designed with 8 levels of resistance and a tension-tightening knob that it easy to adjust. The level of resistance offered by this bike is pleasantly surprising given its relatively low cost.

Many overeager new users try to start on level 7 or 8 resistance but find themselves having to decrease it to 3 or 4 when they find they have bitten off more than they can chew. This Marcy Recumbent Bike’s wide variety of resistance levels make it ideal for all types: younger and older, fit and not-so-fit, expert and novice cyclists can all benefit.

Noise of Marcy Recumbent Bike

One of the most impressive things about Marcy Me 709 Exercise Bike is the quiet operation. This Recumbent Exercise Bike offers a very quiet workout despite its budget price. This may be because it works magnetically. This quietness can be a boon for those with small children who are sleeping, those in apartments, or those who like to exercise at odd hours.

Marcy Me 709 Exercise Bike’s Monitor

The monitor is really nothing special. Marcy Me 709 Bike's display shows what you might expect from an exercise bike – distance, speed, time and number of calories burned. We are, however, pleased to find that the monitor is oversized, clear and easy to read.

On Amazon, This Exercise Bike Receives More Than 600 Reviews

The seat, while adequate enough, could be a bit more comfortable (see the section “Any Complaints?”). The adjustable handlebars and foot straps of Recumbent Bike more than make up for this, however. They are very good at adjusting to any body size or type to make you as comfortable as possible.

The fact that the handlebars, seats and foot straps of this Recumbent Cycle are so flexible in their adjustments means that all members of the family can enjoy this piece of equipment and increase their fitness.

It is recommended by the instruction manual that 2 people should assemble the Marcy Me 709 Exercise Bike together, but one person could be able to do it alone. The assembly instructions are very detailed and clear, with helpful pictures at every step. If two people work together, assembly should take 30 minutes or under, and one person alone can accomplish this Recumbent Exercise Bike in 45-60 minutes.

User Reviews

Marcy Me 709 Recumbent Exercise Bike has enjoyed very positive reviews from users. Many of them applaud the varying resistance levels, comfort, quiet operation and the effectiveness of the workout. Of course, no product is perfect and some users disliked the limited functionality of the monitor.

Any Complaints on Marcy Me 709 Recumbent Exercise Bike?

Aside from the limits of the monitor, there are a few other minor issues with the bike.

Marcy Me 709 Exercise Bike might not be the bike for you if you are shopping for a very small exercise bike. Recumbent bikes by their very nature take up more room than upright bikes. The design of Marcy Recumbent Magnetic Bikes means more comfort and less joint strain for you, but the tradeoff is in floor space you will have to devote to the bike.

Also, the seat isn’t as padded as some pricier bikes, but still it’s reasonably comfortable. It could probably use a bit more padding, but it’s not a huge problem.

MarianneRichmond, VirginiaI needed to find an excirese bike that would fit in my small apartment. I have looked at numerous versions of these bikes and found that most of them are so big that I would have nowhere to put them unless it was out on my balcony. I found that putting this cycle together was a bit of a challenge for me, until my brother stopped by and I put him to work on it. He got it put together fairly quickly, so you should have someone handy that is mechanically inclined if you are not.I highly recommend this excirese cycle to anyone that wants to have a comfortable way of getting and staying in shape. You will be happy with the results you get, and you won't have to pay for a gym membership all the time as well. This is a great excirese cycle and I have loved every second of owning it.
