I had the pleasure of Meeting with Melissa Flynn, Owner of Ocotillo Pilates. In our interview Melissa explained her passion for Pilates.
Melissa's journey started seven years ago in Scottsdale Arizona. Melissa’s passion dedicated to making the work of Joseph Pilates available to people of all over the valley took her to Chandler Arizona Where she established Ocotillo Pilates Studio. Melissa now has twelve instructors which helps empower clients with a unique understanding of how to build and maintain their core muscles, through fascial stretch therapy; A system of table-based assisted stretching, focusing on the fascia and joint capsule as the key elements in achieving the best flexibility. Mechanics therapy technique opens the door to a diverse group of consumers who suffer from bodily injuries and athletes undergoing rehabilitation due to sports injuries.

The Founder Joseph Hubertus Pilates
Joseph H. Pilates was born in 1883,in Mönchengladbach,Germany. His father was a prize-winning gymnast, and his mother worked as a naturopath.
Pilates was constantly sick as a child he suffered from health problems such asthma, rickets, and rheumatic fever. He decided to dedicate his entire life to improving his physical strength. His health journey lead him to skiing frequently, he also began studying body-building, yoga, "kung fu" (probably what is now known as qigong), and gymnastics.
By the age of 14, he was fit enough to pose for anatomical charts. Pilates came to believe that the "modern" life-style, bad posture, and inefficient breathing lay at the roots of poor health.
He ultimately enhanced a series of exercises and training-techniques and engineered all the equipment, specifications, and tuning needed to teach his methods properly.

What Is Pilates?
Pilates is a system of exercises which incorporates dance and gymnastics practice to strengthen the bodies core.
Mechanic Pilates: Incorporates special apparatuses, designed to improve physical strength, flexibility, and posture.
