Medicinal Silver: Ionic Silver

Updated on July 31, 2011

Several months ago, my mother having COPD, I searched the internet for anything that would help slow the progression of the disease. Looking for natural remedies, as she was on everything “scientific” medicine could offer, I ran across multiple sites where people suggested “Colloidal Silver” (Medicinal Silver). I had heard of it in the past, but knew little about it. So, I put my husband to work (per-say).

My husband, being scientifically anal, studied & researched Medicinal Silver for the next few days; searching websites & downloading PDF files from scientific studies. Being compulsively thorough, he did his own graphs, diagrams & calculations. He is a very 'out-of-the-box' scientifically minded individual, and so sees many unconventional medicines (alternative medicines) as just being understudied (such as how Acupuncture is finally being acknowledged as a real medicinal procedure despite scientists remaining confused on how it works –though my husband has a few theories in regards to this).

Days later, he came to me with his findings like a research analyst to his boss. Always teasing me, he told me all of the negatives and showed it as a 'no-go'. Then he exploded with all of the positives and amazing facts & findings.

He noted that most people, even those into unconventional medicine, were quickly turned away from silver because of an overly known side-effect of the intake of silver. It is not surprising that most are turned away, for when he showed me a photo of the supposed side-effects, I was shocked beyond belief.

Generalized Argyria
Generalized Argyria

“Argyria” is a visual skin condition caused by silver intake that causes a local or general discoloring of the skin to blueish-grey. Silver that does not pass out of the body via urination or excrement accumulates under the skin. Like too many carrots causing your skin to become orange-ish (though temporarily), the accumulation of silver causes the skin to take on a silver coloring. Argyria can happen anywhere on the body (or everywhere in extreme cases), including the eyes (“Argyrosis”).

Most would see Argyria and immediately say no-way to Silver.

However, Colloidal Silver is the general term for Medicinal Silver and so is misleading. There are two types of Medicinal Silver: “Metallic Silver” & “Ionic Silver”; between which there are enormous differences.

Metallic Silver is the silver in your jewelry, the silver in your old fillings, the silver of your grandmother's forks; it's the metal extracted from the ground. The large majority (almost all) of modern Argyria cases were caused in silver mines or in silver refining facilities. These cases of this socially debilitating condition were caused by the inhalation of silver-dust for decades. Metallic Silver is the most widely sold form of Medicinal Silver. It is usually diluted in salt-water or some other liquid. Most of these solutions are not made with completely broken-down silver (individual silver atoms floating about). Rather, most are made with silver 'chunks', chucks of silver atoms. I do not mean 12, 20 or 2,000 atoms, but rather chucks that are easily visible via a microscope; chucks floating around in the liquid like dirt in your drinking water.

The few recent cases of Argyria were caused by people drinking Metallic Silver solutions. However, to be unbiased, they drank gallons of it a day, for years, and it was usually homemade –instead of an industrial quality.. So is drinking / using small Metallic amounts of Metallic Silver okay? Probably, yet it is still not the way to go.

Ionic Silver is the main issue I want to bring to the table here.

“Ionic” Silver, as its name suggests, is an ionic form of silver, i.e. all of the silver atoms (Ag) are ions (an atom having more or less electrons than it is supposed to). In this case the silver ions are Ag+, thus having a positive charge (electromagnetic charge) –each atom is missing an electron. Ionic Silver is sometimes known as Active Silver rather than the Inactive Silver of Metallic.

As stated earlier, Metallic Silver solutions are chunky & dense, more-or-less like the flakes of gold you get in Goldschlager. Ionic Silver is more of a broken-down form of silver, much more.

The smaller the atomic concentration (a less number of grouped atoms) the better. Silver, as with most foreign substances, are pulled from the blood stream and expelled via excretion. A small atomic concentration allows for easier expulsion and reduces the chances of localized Argyria, let alone generalized.

Okay, so Ionic Silver is better, but what does it do?

Silver atoms find themselves docking with a specific structure in the human body, but what it attaches to is not actually part of the human body. Silver (Ag) attaches to the lungs of bacteria. Imagine shoving a tennis ball in your mouth... You can't breathe! The same is with bacteria. The Silver blocks its ability to retrieve oxygen to survive and passes into the unknown of death.

The upper-class (rich) during the middle-ages were less likely to become infected with Bubonic Plague during the ages of Black Death. Why? They ate & drank off of silver plates & silver goblets. Doing so causes small amounts of silver to enter the blood via the mouth & stomach. There use of silver during meals may have given the upper-class the nickname of “Blue-bloods” (blue being the color of Argyria).

Ionic Silver is better at killing bacteria due to its charge, drawing itself towards bacteria due to its electromagnetic nature (i.e. active silver –as it actively heads for the lungs of bacteria). Also, because Ionic Silver is active, it has a greater chance of attacking bacteria & being passed out of the body with the bacterial corpse rather than causing Argyria –a much, much higher chance.

Ionic Silver has even been found to be greatly effective (in a lab) against Staph bacteria!

My husband then researched the different companies (producers) which sell Ionic Silver in order to find the best & most effective solution.

His find was “Sovereign Silver” by the “Natural Immunogenics Corporation” located in Florida. My husband found that this company does its own unbiased studies in a high-tech lab and has submitted its product to other labs for analysis. Their brand of Ionic Silver has the least chucks, if any. They have a PPM (parts-per-million Ion ration) that fits the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) standards for Silver ingestion (if one follows the dose instructions on the product). 99% of the Silver in their product is Ionic and they use purified water in the solution rather than salt-water (which can de-ionize the silver). Lastly, they have scientifically proven that their brand is more effective at killing bacteria (including Staph) than their competitor.

So, my husband ordered a 4 fluid oz. (118 mL) bottle of their product (liquid) which has a convenient glass dropper attached.

Sadly, my Mother went to the hospital right before we received the product. However, my husband had just contracted Staph from working in the Medical field. He had had a Staph infection before and stated that it was the most painful experience of his life. Last time he went straight to the doctor and was given two antibiotics which took three weeks to work. He could barely walk & couldn't sleep. But it eventually went away due to six pills a day. This time, he wanted to use himself as a test-dummy and use the silver instead of heading to the ER.

He saturated a bandaid with the solution and placed the bandaid over the infection. It was already painful and he wondered if he had made a big mistake in the name of science (as he has done before). (Note: the solution itself did not burn or cause discomfort despite being placed on an open wound –my husband stated that it was like plain tap water.) He repeated the process the following day and already noticed that the infection was smaller & less painful. Three days of this and the infection was gone –no evidence of it ever having existed (mean-while he remains to have a depression scar from the first infection). He (and I) was amazed. Shocked. Flabbergasted!

I ended up getting Staph from my husband before he used the Sovereign Silver. He did the same method on me and it was so effective that through its active properties it actually pulled the bacterial infection out of my skin like a popping pimple. Likewise, I have no evidence to show I ever had a Staph infection.

My husband later used it on our daughter's pinky toe (whose nail had been ripped off and was getting infected according to my husband) and it healed it completely.

Recently, on a mental whim, I put the solution in my cat's ears, which had ear-mite infections. And, OMG, its ears are clean! Not a sight or sign of mites. My husband said that it didn't kill the mites, but rather killed their food-source.

Since, it has rid my husband of a boil and prevented an infection on a serious cut I got while cooking.

It is a very economical product. Despite having it for six months, we have only recently used the majority of this small bottle.

There is one problem through, but read on. During his research, my husband saw that the Ionic Silver should be pretty ineffective if taken internally (i.e. drank –which has no taste) due to the acids (HCL) in our stomach that should negate its effectiveness. Sovereign Silver did tests involving small amounts of HCL (much lower concentrations than found in your stomach) and saw that it was almost completely negated. Thus my husband (again as a human test subject) took a swig of the solution...

It was TOO effective! It killed all (much) of the good bacteria in his stomach (gastro-intestinal tract) and gave him pretty bad heart-burn & diarrhea. However, this was quickly counteracted by a pro-biotic such as Acidophilus or “Activia” yogurt.

There is more to tell about Ionic Silver, such as it having been found to CURE cancer! (Yet the genius that found such was told to 'shut-up' by the medical community –and lost his job after the finding due to a literal medical conspiracy. (But this is not a book, rather it is a short –to the point– article.)

In the end, Ionic Silver can save you hundreds in medical costs and is an unbelievable bacterial killer for humans & pets (at least cats). It has some side-effects, but the pros out-weigh the cons by far. (Note: --from my husband-- Silver allergies do not seem to have effects from Ionic silver, as my husband is allergic.)

Note: [My husband made me add this.] My husband is not a doctors or scientist (nor I) and so this article is from layman study & experience. We do not suggest taking any substance without the suggestion of your physician as you may have a condition which could cause adverse side-effects to such a usage.)

I swear by Colloidal Silver I know a lot of bird breeders put a drop in the birds water once a week, also people who rub it into the sores on horses legs.

I have used it on wounds and found it a gret healer

Thank you, Peter. For some ailments, it can save a trip to the doc or vet. I have used it on a big old Tomcat who comes to my porch to eat. He has some war wounds. He wasn't happy but I treated him with the silver and boo boos all gone.
