Melanotan 2

Melanotan II is supposedly a tanning agent and is also advertised as being effective in protecting against skin cancer. It is important to note that Melanotan 2 is an unapproved product and is not advised by FDA. Consumers are advised that there may be adverse side effects of using this Melanotan 2 product. Some of the general risks of using unapproved new drugs could include adverse side effects from bad medications, dangerous drug interactions with the system, and harm from contaminated or outdated drugs. You should do a lot of research and consult with your physician before you take any medication or drugs. Melanotan 2 seems to be a questionable drug, even though many have found it to be an effective drug to tan your skin, the side effects makes it questionable for human consumption.

Read on Melanotan II

What is Melanotan II?

Melanotan-II is a synthetic chemical which is similar to a substance in our bodies called "melanocyte-stimulating hormone," which increases the production of darkening skin pigments. Do not to confuse melanotan-II with melatonin. Adverse effects which may occur with melanotan-II include nausea, stomach cramps, decreased appetite, flushing, tiredness, yawning, darkened skin, spontaneous erections of the penis, and other side effects. It is recommended by many physicians that you do not use melanotan-II if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.  Side effects included darkening of existing moles, enlargement of existing moles, stretching and yawning, prolonged erections and nausia in the first week.

It should be noted that melanotan II has not been approved by any governmental health regulatory agency for usage as drug.

I'm just curious if anyone knows why while breastfeeding it's recomended not to take this. Also how long does it stay in your system? Really excited to try this but not at the expense of my son.

I used Melanotan in the spring and summer of 2008. I used as recommended and had excellent results with no side effects. I have dark brown hair and brown eyes. In retrospect, I probably took it too far as I became darker than my african american friends and I was always being mistaken for Hispanic or African American but I liked it. It gave me a very natural color that didn't look like a tan but like I was naturally another race. I used shea butter on my face to give me a glow or shine. This was just my experience and I can't speak for anyone else.

Sean, I started using it a few dats ago and the back pain for me has been awful, so bad that I've had to stop using it. It side effects must vary according to the individual.

I just started melanotan 2 today. I've taken 1 injection of 0.1ml but I noticed later on in work I started getting a little headache and some discomfort in my lower back. Now lying in bed my lower back is in quite a bit of pain/discomfort but not too sure if this is related to the melanotan considering it was such a low injection. Will need to keep an eye on this over the next few days as I continue to inject 0.1ml daily.

I am very interested in this stuff but I'm trying to see if there is anything that says it disrupts thyroid function. I have hypothyroidism so I have to be sure things dont mess with my synthroid before I take them. If I ask my doctor I will only get scolded for wanting to take the stuff in the 1st place. Does anyone KNOW anything about melanotan II (spelling?) & thyroid function??

      Hi all :)

I've been using this for about a year. I'm a red head so obviously don't tan. Since using m2 I have a lovely tan!!

Unfortunately.... I have to stop using it as I have been having heart palpitations... I haven't told my cardiologist about this as I am way to ashamed but feel that this is why I am having all these heart problems.

The really stupid thing is, I have loved being tanned! It has changed my life.

I love holidays now or did.

If anyone knows a safer way for me to get a tan please tell me!!!!

      Love tam xxi

Hay I've had this stuff before and I was really fine with it bud when I bought it it was all made for me and I'm red headed and male and the reason I took these was I never tan and wanted to see if it worked to make me tanned like most people do . Well it works perfect u can go as dark as you want but then I boaght it again of somewhere else and the expierance was different at first I felt flushed face really hot then dizzy and then stomach turning I couldn't eat so I had to make myself sick and then it made me feel better i was injecting 0.5 ml I just wonder if I'm taking it properly or my body is just getting used to it I'm still going dark quick and I've only had two injections not good so far might go back to where I was getting results without all these side affects

Hey guys I know a lot of you are querying this subject so this may shed some light.

I have been using melanotan 2 on and off for the past 2 to 3 years.

After initial injections I feel slight nausea, slight hot flushes and spontaneous erections. But these become very minimal when I use it for roughly a week.

I usually inject .1ml (will read as 10 on your syringe, can be confusing) every day for 5-7 days then have about a week or 2 off. I have used a lot less before with the same results so will probably drag it back to .05ml

You really need the sun to turn it on, if there is no sun the solarium works but not as well.

I am a fair person and go red raw in the sun, after using melonatan I now tan and I no longer go red raw.

I have noticed that my moles go slightly darker and sometimes get a slight shading under my eyes but it is not noticable.

Not long ago I was at the Sydney skin cancer foundation for an unrelated matter (not cancer in case your questioning why I was there) and I asked the doctor on her opion on melonantan, this was her response.

"Honestly we were extremely excited about this product but at the testing stages it passed everything but 1 test, whether or not it brings on melanoma, so with that I strongly do not recommend it and advise you not to use it"

So that was dissapointng to hear, however I continue to use it and will post in here if I find out any other news

Also be careful with how you inject, ensure you alcohol swab the vile (kills bacteria from the fridge), the area before you inject and the same area after you inject. I used to inject in my stomach but for an unknown reason a couple of bruises appeared and remained there for about 4-5 months, it happened to one of my mates but everyone else i know injects there with no problems. I now inject in my legs and do not get any bruises. Google image subcontaneous cuts and that will show you where you can inject.

In the mean time, bring on the tan!!!

This drug also includes various side effects which are often administered by the people. One can suffer from nausea, severe headaches, skin infections, irritation and even dizziness. Out of all the side effects, nausea is the common side effect which is experienced by the people after few injections.

I have used this product several times, and for periods up to six months. I have gotten it from different online labs but as long as they're reputable (check their reviews/forums) it should be good. Side effects, well, I did get the nausea at 0.5mg 2x daily for the first week. After that, no nausea. Do not use much higher doses, and maybe taper up from the beginning, starting at 0.25mg 1x daily at first to minimize nausea. Yes, it makes you hard when the wind blows, doesn't affect desire much though, not directly. Works good, nausea sucks, but oh well. I like the idea of getting a perfect, lineless tan with more safety and efficacy than a dangerous, expensive tanning bed that causes skin cancer with certainty.

      Duh right?

I just got home from the ER-took the recommended dose for the loading phase and just realized the headaches I had alll week were from this drug-on day 6 got severe nausea and dizziness almost passed out while shopping. Someone called an ambulance and on the way I had a serious cardiac event "supraventricular tachycardia and had to have my heart stopped and restarted-I recovered but now have thousands in hospital bills-don't know why some used this with no sides and mine were so severe. Have seen other instances of tachycardias described as side-wondering if anyone else has experienced this

I took these injections for over a year and because I was always obsessed with tanning, I took more than the recommended dosage. I never had any side effects BUT I did start to darken quickly. Even though I achieved a gorgeous tan quickly, I continued my high dosage to see how dark I could get. Well I got DARK...very dark! So much that people started asking what was going on. I always had dark brown hair but I noticed that at the roots, even my hair is growing out much darker. I seriously look like I am a different ethnicity now. I knew I had crossed the line when people no longer believed that I am actually Caucasian. I stopped injections almost 3 months ago and my skin is same color it was the day I stopped and my hair continues to grow almost black. No one to blame but myself and Im starting to accept that I may never be white again and it's pretty scary to change yourself this much. Take Melanotan at the recommended dose and don't try speed up the process :(

Some of the posts up above must be from sunbed shop owners. It certainly does not give you cancer, its the whole point it was made, TO STOP SKIN CANCER!!. you already have a certain amount of the chemical in your body anyways. AT first it gives you nausea fora few days while your body ajusts to the new harmone thenthat goes away. Get a few errections but hey, our lass loves it!

For thse who are scared to self in ject you can now get sniffable versions, just like a vics haha

Another thing, you don't need to take anymore than 0.50mg at once, even better would be 0.075 mg, it is still effective, no need to take more than that.

I used it before, never had any side effects except for mild facial flushing and decreased appitite. Did over 150 mg over ~ 3 years, nothing ever happened and I could not be in better health. Took time of taking it and your skin does go back to normal but it takes about 6 months or so.

I have used this stuff for almost 3 weeks. A week ago after injecting, about 30 mins afterwards my right leg went numb and I had a cold sensation inside the leg. It lasted for quite a while and I couldn't fall asleep, I developed major anxiety and cold sweats as well as quite bad nightmares which I have never had. I dismissed it thinking it was something else. A week later after NOT injecting I injected again and again I developed the same thing. I am now worried if its not causing major damage to my body. If anybody out there has had the same feeling or same side effect please let me know.

So i've been using the injections for a couple months now, however after some severe side effects and ending myself up in hospital, i strongly advise not to use this drug, or wait until they make it safer. I have been vomitting daily since day one, been so dizzy, that I havn't been able to leave the house, and now, started to get major anxiety problems. not to mention the fact that i have to sleep with a wet towel on my head each night to keep me cool. I know i sound stupid right? for taking it for so long? I cut the dosage by about 5, and was only using 2 units, 3 times a week. A had a girlfriend on the excact same brand, using much more than myself, and she was fine. However, she has just been informed that her moles changing colour and size, DID turn out to be cancerous, and this is not the first friend to have caused herself skin cancer from the drug. It is so addictive, as you see changed within the first week.. But it is not worth it. Right now, doctors have no idea how long it will take to leave my system, or how long I will continue to be so sick for. Please wait until they make it safe people, koz right now, my life is ruined as i can't even get myself out of this stupid bed.

Wow! Those pics are pretty dramatic. I can see why people are very interested in this drug. I just heard about it recently and am trying to learn more about it. Some of the side effects actually seem to be desirable like increased libido...definitely a plus.
