Methods to Brainwash Yourself to Succeed
Wouldn’t it be awesome if you could just brainwash yourself into being a successful person? Well, guess what? People have already beaten you to the notion that the brain can be reprogrammed and geared towards success. Here are several methods they use to brainwash themselves into a better life.
Give Yourself a New Identity
Don't like who you are? Then make yourself into a new person. Author Kurt Vonnegut wrote in Mother Night, "We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be." Vonnegut summed up perfectly that who we are is what we have already chosen to become. If you want to be someone different, you must pick and choose the habits of your new persona. Recreate yourself into the image of a go-getter, a winner, a hard worker, and a successful person. Who you are is entirely your choice. Simply knowing this should give you the boost you need to start reprogramming your brain and changing your life.
One of the most common forms of positive brainwashing are the repetition of a set of affirmations. A person wishing to be a successful person would create a set of positive affirmations that already confirm that she or he is successful. Examples include:
- I am successful in reaching all of my daily goals.
- I am creating wealth and prosperity for myself and my family.
- I am a genius and my ideas make me wealthy.
Always create positive affirmations as though they are occurring in the present. Avoid "I will be" or "I want to be" because then your goal is placed into the unknown future and become unattainable.
If you read up on the negative forms of brainwashing that were prevalent among the CIA, KGB, and the Nazi's, you will find that repetition was essential to the success of the program. Victims of the process were repeatedly broken down, multiple times a day, day after day. On the opposite end of the spectrum, you can begin building yourself up, multiple times a day, day after day.
Begin by creating your daily affirmations and choose a schedule for saying the affirmations, such as after waking up, during your lunch break or before dinner, and one last time before going to sleep. You will also want to create a daily schedule for other brainwashing methods, such as self hypnosis sessions and guided mediations. The more you can fit into your schedule, the better your results.

Leave Yourself Notes
If you are like me, you will need constant reminders that you are reprogramming your brain to think and act differently. Choose quotes and affirmations that fit your goals and who you want to become. Write these on paper or print out your own signs and post them around your house. Find motivational quotes that will help you get out of bed earlier and post it by your alarm clock. Post a sign in the bathroom, on the refrigerator, and at your work desk. On your television, post a factual reminder that 67% of wealthy people watch less than 1 hour of television a day while the poor will watch at least 6 hours of television a day. Those are 6 hours that could have been used productively.
Many people use hypnosis as a method for reprogramming their brain. While going to an actual hypnotist is believed to be the best method, most people use hypnosis visual and audio aids. These can be found for sale on sites, such as Amazon.com, and they can be found for free on Youtube.
Using hypnosis videos is very easy to do and can take from 10 to 60 minutes of your time. They should be added to your brainwashing routine on a daily basis, if possible. If not, aim for the days when you are off from your regular job or choose a sleep hypnosis that you can listen to at night when you are ready for bed.

Self Help Books
You will also want to include reading self help books into your daily routine. There are numerous self help books available on the market and libraries often carry the classics and the latest releases in self help. I built up my own self help library by visiting used book shops and the local Goodwill that sells books for 25 to 50 cents. Set aside 30 minutes a day just to read self help material. If that isn't possible, consider books on CD and listen to them while you are commuting in the car.
Eliminate Negative Thinking
While you are putting yourself through your personalized brainwashing program, you will need to start weeding out the negative thinking. Negative thoughts and put downs not only harm your self esteem, but they will also hold you back from becoming successful. Make a conscious effort to stop thinking bad things about yourself. Whenever you feel the tendrils of disappointment creeping in, stop and reset your mood. Everything is a learning experience and failures teach you how to become successful. There is no need to get upset over them.
Guided mediations are yet another way to can begin changing your personal thought patterns. You can purchase some fairly good guided mediations on Amazon.com for 99 cents or more. You can also find them for free on Youtube. I like to use guided mediations once or twice a week, but you can use them as little or as often as you like. They are simply another tool for reprogramming yourself.
Pep Talk Yourself
A great way to keep yourself going is to give yourself pep talks during the day. Remind yourself that you can do this, you are a strong person, and that you are doing this to become a better person. Say whatever you have to, be your own coach, to continue to reprogram your brain and ultimately reprogram your life.
Have set goals and definitions for yourself. What does success mean to you? If it means writing a sci-fi trilogy, write that down as one of your goals. If success means breaking the company's sales records, set that as your ultimate goal. You can't get anywhere if you don't know where you are going.
