Clint Eastwood is now 83 years old. This webpage ehow.com says:

July 24, 2016 Update
Apparently I put up a video where I did not watch the whole thing. While editing this I saw it and know what it is about. A Dr. Bert Herring (see video below) was working for the National Cancer Institute (NCI) trying to find a Cure for Cancer. Instead he accidentally found a way that everyone can lose all excess weight by eating all their meals during 5 hours of the day and not eating for 19 hours. The link above this link tells all about the latest that has been found about preventing and curing cancer. A lot of the information comes from an M.D. that researched it for many years to get rid of his own cancer. Like many, his cancer was cured and it came back so he learned how to cure it for good and waited for 15 years of it not returning before writing the book.
Dangers of Fasting
This website is not a blog so the article cannot only be about my experience. It is normal for people to have their blood pressure go down during a fast. So if someone is lying down and they get up to fast, then they can pass out. Then they will fall and if they hit their head the wrong way, then they could die.
Also one of 100 people will have their potassium level drop too low and the fast must be broken right away. These are the common problems with fasting. Other problems are more rare.
This article was written September 20, 2013 but the fast was done years ago. I did not do anything different before beginning the fast. I had done many shorter fasts before this one. I did it for my health since I am no longer a young man like I used to be. Also people have a big attachment to food. This is part of the reason that over 35% of Americans are obese. I only consumed PURE water that has no minerals in it.
This first 5 days of the fast are the most challenging. Now the main problem that I had during the fast was that I was thinking about food a lot. When is comes to this sort of thing, every fast is different and every person is different. I kept busy being on the internet so that helped time to pass faster.
WebMD.com has an article called Fasting Diets. It says:
Studies of fasting in both rodents and humans appear to indicate a connection between calorie restriction and longevity. In one study of overweight men and women, a calorie-restricted diet improved markers of aging, such as insulin level and body temperature.
Fasting might also improve longevity by delaying the onset of age-related diseases including Alzheimer's, heart disease, and diabetes. One study showed that skipping meals once a month, as members of the Mormon religious group do, reduces the risk of clogged arteries (the build-up of plaque that can lead to heart attacks and strokes).
Some people fast to lose weight. Now I have never been overweight. I have always been thin. So I looked this up and saw that if you are thin then it may not be good to fast more than 3 weeks (21 days). Otherwise many people fast for a month.
Why Did I Choose 22 Days
There are thousands of Christians who fast as part of their religion. Many Muslims fast during the day during Ramadan. Before these religions existed Jews fasted as part of their religion and for health. Yom Kippur is the day of atonement and adult Jews are supposed to fast on that day to help atone for their sins.
The amount of days that a Christian fasts will be the time that someone in the bible fasted for. Now 40 days is very long so most will fast a week (7 days), 10 days or 21 days. So I chose 22 days so that I will have fasted longer than all those Christians.
I was talking to a woman shortly after this in a Whole Foods that is like a health food store about fasting. She had fasted on the lemonade diet where all you consume is lemonade for 21 days. She asked me about the longest that I had fasted and I told her for 22 days.
Fasting Stops Peristalsis
The above is something that you will not find elsewhere unless others learn about it from here. I have read many books and webpages on fasting. On one webpage someone asked this question and several replied but no one addressed this question. I have asked medical doctors if there is a way to stop peristalsis without drugs or surgery and they did not know of a way to do this.
The colon or large intestine is always contracting every minute and everyday of your life. This is called peristalsis. This is the same with your heart. It beats every minute and everyday of your life. Now if someone could give their heart a rest for a month, this may extend life by more than a decade. Now if no one says the above then how could I learn about it. I figured it out.
Now sometimes I have done a fast or a week or 10 days and at the end of it I had no need to defecate. This is normal with fasting. But after I start eating, sometimes I will need to defecate before I am done that first meal. Fasting expert Arnold Ehret said that it is common to spend all night on the toilet after you have done a long fast for 40 days.
Now when you eat food it takes at least a day from when it enters your mouth until it is ready to come out the other end. So the only way to explain the above is that peristalsis had stopped so I had no need to defecate at the last part of the fast. But as soon as I start eating the peristalsis starts.
They do know that fasting makes your colon work much better. So the rest that the colon gets must rejuvenate the colon just like the heart would be rejuvenated if it could rest for a few weeks or a month.
The founder of Garden of Life is Jordan Rubin and he is an N.D. But before this he almost died from Crohn's disease. Wikpedia says:
Crohn's disease, also known as Crohn syndrome and regional enteritis, is a type of inflammatory bowel disease that may affect any part of the gastrointestinal tract from mouth to anus, causing a wide variety of symptoms.
Rubin would have diarrhea every couple of hours so he could not sleep more than a couple of hours at a time. This has a terrible effect on health. He was in a hospital in Germany where they were giving him opium to slow down his peristalsis but that only helped a little.
If he stopped eating he would have no need to have diarrhea which is like the body saying that it needs a break from eating so its digestive system can rest. A fast gives the whole digestive system a rest.
My 22 day fast was kind of uneventful but I did feel much better at the end of it and ate only raw plant-based foods for a while. I kept busy during the fast by being on the internet. I am sure that it extended my life. In fact if you read a lot about health you learn that different people have different ideas on health. but what most agree on is that the less you eat, the longer you live. They even did a study with rats that showed that restricting calories extends life.
Note that at the end of the fast I was thinking excessively about food and looking at pictures of food. I was imagining all the new foods that I would be trying. After the fast I never did try those foods. But I learned that if a thin guy like me can fast for 22 days on only pure water, the need for nutrition is not as great as people imagine it to be. Actually eating creates a need for more nutrition. The more that you eat, the more nutrition that you need.

Dr. Michael Mosley is an M.D. and has a TV show about health. He created the 5:2 diet where you eat normally 5 days a week but on 2 days you only consume 500 calories if you are a woman or 600 calories for men for each of those 2 days.
This is called intermittent fasting. This article, Fasting diet doctor Michael Mosley, behind 5:2 eating plan, eases up after dropping 12kg [49 pounds], says:
After some gruelling experiments with strict fasting regimes he came up with the popular 5:2 diet [5:2 fasting diet], the subject of the documentary Eat, Fast And Live Longer, which will be screened in Australia in October.
Dr Mosley says he has lost 12kg [49 pounds], no longer has diabetes and has reduced his cholesterol. He also no longer snores.
Dr Mosley studied medicine after graduating with a degree in politics, philosophy and economics and working in a bank.

The first video below is by Pastor Paula White. If you are a Christian, then this will be great to watch. Now I am not a Christian but I like watching Paula White. She looks adorable! She says that a fast can help you to find a spouse according to the bible. Of course some of what she says is applicable to everyone. Socrates and Plato fasted and they lived before Jesus was born. The end of her talk on the first video is a quick flurry of what fasting can do for you.

The fourth video is another video Pastor Paula White and it may be more potent than the first video. It has some good things that are not in the first video. Hindus also fast. There is a movie about Gandhi that won an Oscar for best picture that I saw. Now if you think about what Gandhi did while listening to Pastor Paula, it fits in with what she is saying. And God, fasting and prayer are not patented by any religion.
The second video is about fasting by Bert Herring, M.D. He worked at NIH (National Institutes of Health). People are saying do not skip breakfast. He skipped breakfast and had less appetite so he ate less during the day. He kept doing this and lost weight. D.I.E.T. means Did I enrich today?
On the third video below Dr. Thomas Lodi says "Fasting allows you too remember that you are not this body." Now he is a doctor but he is talking about the soul that brings it closer to what Pastor Paula White is talking about. This is also a big part of why I like fasting.
