I'm Superwoman in my Dream

Updated on April 4, 2016

Vivid Dream Definition

The definition of 'vivid dreams' according to vocabulary.com:

Vivid is an adjective that describes a bold and bright color, an intense feeling, or an image in your mind that is so clear you can almost touch it. Sometimes you have a vivid dream that feels so real that even when you wake up, you can't tell if the dream is really over.

I've Always had an Active Dream Life

I have always been a big dreamer since I was a young girl. Most mornings I can remember at least ten vivid dreams. My family enjoys gathering in the kitchen to recall accounts of their dream journey the night before. It's become a fun competition to see who has the most entertaining dream. I'd like to give you a peek into my active dream life by sharing one of many, from last night.

My Bizarre Dream

Before I begin telling you about my dream, I need to preface it with some needed information. The last couple of days in Minnesota have been a mixed bag of strange weather. It went back and forth between raining, sleeting and snowing. I am an avid fan or watching the local news and have my favorite stations. Most of the time I watch channel nine and the anchors and reporters have come to feel like part of my family. The other day when they were talking about the developing weather storm, they sent one of their reporters out in a car. I felt kind of bad for the guy as he was driving around telling us how dangerous it was getting on the roads. Enough information, here's my dream.

I'm a roving reporter for channel nine news and driving my car to do a segment about the status of the winter storm that has just started brewing. My co-pilot in the passenger seat is none other than Jeff Passolt. Jeff is our local, well known anchor in real life, for channel nine. Jeff and I are driving around when we suddenly hit a slick spot in the road. The car becomes air born and I think to myself, "this isn't a good situation and I don't want Jeff getting hurt." I make a plan in my head that will save my co-worker and myself from impending death. I roll down my window before we make impact. When the car is just ready to land on the road, I put my arms out of the window. I'm obviously hanging upside down and drop my hands to the ground to hold the car up. I'm like Superwoman as I patiently steady the car until Jeff gets out. Once I maneuver myself and crawl out, Jeff immediately asks how I managed to have the superhuman strength to bench a car like it was a paper weight. I humbly retort that it must have been the fight or flight reaction of adrenaline. He stares at me; eyes wide with awe and disbelief and says, "are you in any pain?" I tell him, "my arms are a little sore and my back is probably going to kill me later, but other than that, I'm good." Jeff and I, for the most part, come out of the car accident unscathed because I'm like some kind of superhero.

After having this weird dream, I thought It would be funny to contact the news station. I sent them my story via twitter and asked them to share it with Jeff, the news anchor, They tweeted me back about an hour later and said they got a kick out of it and made a copy to give to Jeff.

I had heard that Jeff was in California. Is he as popular there as he was here? I am guessing he's doing great.

OMG-I have had so many flying dreams in my life. In my Master's program in Psychology, we learned that flying dreams mean that we are either feeling free of some problems or that we want to get away from problems. It's really cool to hear that it expressed the creative side of a person. I want to go back to my countless dreams now and see the puns. What a great factoid-thanks Billie :-) P.S.-Thanks for reading about my crazy dream.

Linda, I remember the name Jeff Passolt my years in MN. Guess what? When we got to CA, I turned on the news and the anchor was (and still is) ??? Paul Majors. Every time I see him, I don't know whether I'm in MN or CA. Oh wait, I look outside at the palm trees and I know. Did you know that a very small percentage of the poulation have flying dreams? I think it's one percent. It's said to be a mark of creativity. Johnny Carson had flying dreams and I had one only once and I barely got off the ground. (tee hee). I like the theory that we pun and make plays on words a lot in our dreams and in re-reading mine, I can find the puns and their meaning. Of course, the puns are only meaningful to you. (and maybe your twin sister :)

That's funny quietinstrumental-I think we all want what we don't have. I sometimes wish my dreams weren't so vivid. Some of them are darn right freaky. I keep dreaming about my brother who passed away and I'm the only one who can see him. It's nice but kind of creepy too.

  • profile image

    quietinstrumental 5 years ago

Hilarious! I'm the opposite way with recollection, unfortunately: most I get these days is the vague feeling that I've had a weird dream of nigh-David Lynchian proportions. Usually nothing specific, though sometimes I might encounter a mnemonic trigger later in the day. Wish my memory was as vivid as yours!

This is a fun hub, MT. Wouldn't it be nice if we could just transfer those dream powers to real life? I sometimes dream I can fly, or run along the highway as fast as a car. It's a lot of fun until I wake up and have to get three cups of coffee to get going lol!

I find that the more I record my dreams when I wake up the more dreams I remember, so 10 dreams in a night doesn't surprise me. This was a really cool one! Voted up, funny, and interesting!

Theseus-Your comment touched me and made my day :-) you are right that there are many everyday heroes that don't necessarily need to be superhuman. So many stories you see on the news of people who die to save others in a time of need. Thanks so much for taking time to read about my dream.

What a dream! Wouldn't it be nice if superheroes do really exist? I bet.

But everyday, we have unsung heroes who do small deeds with a great heart. I believe that you are one. Your writing makes someone else's day better than good. Thank you.

Wow!! That's some super-dream! Too funny, the screwy stuff that happens in dreams.

I usually sleep too long after my last dream to remember it, unless it's of the type that wakes me up.

I remember my mother telling of a super-human dream she used to have on a rather regular basis, though: someone or something would be chasing her, and her feet were like lead, so she'd get down and 'run' on her forearms with her legs in the air, and she could go like the wind and escape.

LOL...Most of the dreams I remember are not for public discussion, and usually involve your body alerting you to get up for a nature call.... :(

Voted up, funny and interesting. The study of dreams and hidden meanings is fascinating.
