My Master Cleanse Journey
The Master Cleanser is a simple diet for increasing energy, balancing your body's pH, losing weight, reducing swelling and pain, alleviating allergies, flushing the colon, improving skin and hair and ridding your body of parasites.

I have done this cleanse several times before but I am wanting to give myself a kick start in getting rid of the last of the extra weight I am carrying and finally get the body I've always wanted. I started the program on May 3, 2010 and I'm planning on making it to the end of the month - a full 30 days. I also plan on doing a weekly update on this hub as I go through the process.
Its been just over a week since I wrote this hub, however it's been 10 days since I started the Master Cleanse. I've lost 11 pounds and today I feel fantastic. I've definitely had some detoxing issues including some weird aches and pain in my finger, head and left foot. Yesterday my eyes were red and dry and felt gritty, but I read somewhere that is a sign of the liver detoxing. So far so good and I'm still planning on going a full 4 weeks.
Today is Day 15 on the Master Cleanse. I've now lost a total of 15 pounds! Other than feeling a little tired at the end of the day and a little hungry now and again, I've had nothing more to complain about. The best part is that I am sleeping better. Normally I wake up every two or three hours and in the last five days I have been sleeping between five and six hours straight through. One of the other benefits is that my skin has gotten a lot softer although I have had a little dryness in my hands (which is fairly normal for me).
I say it's "weird" because the results people get when they do this for just 10 days are astounding, but the whole process is really simple to do. And everything you need can be picked up at the grocery store for a couple dollars.
Normally I would say the whole thing sounds too good to be true, but this system has been around for close to 60 years, and today it's more popular then ever!
It's even being used by Hollywood stars who have to look good all the time because the cameras always on them. The last thing they want is an unflattering photo of them looking sickly and out of shape on the front page of the tabloids.

For 1 glass:
2 tablespoons lemon or lime juice (approximately 1/2 lemon)
2 tablespoons genuine maple syrup
1/10 teaspoon cayenne pepper or to taste
Water, medium hot or cold (spring or purified water)
Combine the juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper in a 10 ounce glass and fill with medium not water (Cold water may be used if preferred).
Use fresh lemons or limes only, never canned lemon or lime juice or frozen lemonade or frozen juice. Use organic lemons when possible.
The maple syrup is a balanced form of positive and negative sugars and must be used, no substitutions. There are four U.S.D.A. approved grades of maple syrup. The early sap runs generally produce the lighter grades - Grade A Light Amber and Grade A Medium Amber. The mid-season runs generally yield mostly Grade A Dark Amber and has more mineral content and more "maple" taste. The end of the season brings mostly Grade B, with even more minerals and the strongest maple flavor. All grades can be used in the diet but the darker grade is the one recommended as it has the most nutrients. The quality of the syrup is generally the same for all the grades. If you live in Canada you will want to use the #2 Amber Grade which is the end of the season maple syrup and will have the most nutrients.

What is the Master Cleanse?
The master cleanse has successfully and consistently demonstrated its ability to eliminate and build the body. Lemons and limes are the richest source of minerals and vitamins of any food and they are always available. Originally the diet was used to heal stomach ulcers over forty years ago.
The diet is superior in every way as a reducing program as it dissolves and eliminates all types of fatty tissue.
All mucus diseases such as colds, flu, asthma, hay fever, sinus and bronchial troubles are rapidly dissolved and eliminated from the body. Allergies exist as a result of an accumulation of these toxins and they vanish as we cleanse the body.
The types of disease which are a result of calcium deposits in the joints, muscles, cells and glands are readily dissolved and removed from the body.
All skin disorders also disappear as the rest of the body is cleansed.
Yes this diet is a reducing program, but it is also much more. People build strong, healthy bodies from the correct foods as they build diseased bodies from incorrect foods. The Master Cleanse will prove it is superior for cleansing and building the body.
Perhaps it is a good thing that medicine and nature never got together - nature could have very easily suffered the many dangerous side effects.
How Much Do You Drink?
You should drink between 6 and 12 glasses of the lemonade a day. As you get hungry have another glass. DO NOT EAT ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE LEMONADE DRINK WHILE ON THE PROGRAM. The lemonade is a complete balance of vitamins and minerals. Also do not take any vitamin pills.
If you are trying to lose some weight, less maple syrup may be taken. For those you don't want to lose any weight, more maple syrup may be taken. Remember that what you will be losing is mucus, waste and disease. Healthy tissue will not be eliminated from the body.
Extra water may be taken during the day and also peppermint tea.
What's In My Food
One of the main reasons for the epidemic of overweight Americans and Canadians is that we are eating and drinking toxic food. Our bodies were not designed to handle the amount of toxins that we consume daily from the food we eat.
Unfortunately processed foods (think anything in a can, bag, bottle, carton or box) uses flavor enhancers that are chemical based. For example there are approximately 350 chemicals in high quality artificial strawberry flavor. The questions should be “where’s the strawberry?”
If that is not enough, one of the most widely used color additives, cochineal extract, is made from the dried bodies of the female beetle found in Peru and the Canary Islands. This insect feeds on the red cactus berries. The insects are collected, dried, and ground into a pigment. It takes about 70,000 of them to produce a pound of carmine, which is used to make processed foods look pink, red, or purple. Dannon strawberry yogurt gets its color from carmine, and so do many frozen fruit bars, candies, and fruit fillings, and as well Ocean Spray pink-grapefruit juice drink.
You might think that drinking soft drinks containing artificial sweeteners is good for your waist line but they may not be so good for your health. Aspartame contains 10% methanol, a poison which gets released at temperatures above 86 degrees or if the product is left on the shelf for a long period of time. Methanol destroys the brain bit by bit although immediate effects can be severe and include epileptic seizures, blindness and heart palpitations. Less severe sympthoms include blurred vision, bright flashes, dizziness, loss of equilibrium and lip or mouth reactions.
In case you didn’t know the US FDA removed all restrictions from Aspartame allowing it to be used in everything, including heated and baked goods!
