My Personal Addiction

Updated on February 6, 2012

I Hate.

I hate to admit it, I have an addiction

Yes my followers, this is very true,

I hope you will all understand

this can happen to any of you.

So here it goes I'll let it out

I'll tell my tale of woe

Please sit back and open your mind

I'm about to let it go

It always has my attention and

keeps me from my Poetry mission,

This addiction of mine

it comes from the Television.

Don't take me wrong, or feel sorry

because I've made my fate

I love the tube, I love to watch

Its the Commercials that I hate.

Television commercials are annoying, they always seem to come on at the wrong time, trying to sell you something that you don't want, don't need, and there are always to many within a short time span that you can't possibly remember all of them. But they come on so often that you can shut off the sound and still know all the words that are spoken. AUGHHH!

Television commercials are the main reason that fewer and fewer people watch television. Parents can't let their children watch television because most commercials should have a P. G rating, some are even worse.

Most the commercials that peddle so called medicine, have so many side effects that you could put them in a pamphlet, and no doctor would ever prescribe them to you with this many side effects with out risking a lawsuit.

I hate commercials, I love to watch television uninterrupted without commercials.

This is the definition of a commercial:

1. connected with or engaged in or sponsored by or used in commerce or commercial enterprises; commercial trucker; commercial TV; commercial diamonds; commercial grade of beef; commercial oxalic acid;

2. of or relating to commercialism; a commercial attache; commercial paper; commercial law;

So now my followers you have seen

what is my addiction, it's the television screen

Don't let your children, get hooked like me

It starts with cartoons, as you will see.

      Michael , the way i look at it , it's not a problem really because it is not that destructive , anyways you are big , you know how to regulate yourself.. this might be dangerous to young ones because they don't know still how to weigh and balance things out. that's why parents must be there to guide their babies with this kind of addiction.

      I want to tell you also my addiction...i can't really git rid of it though i am sick. I am a coke addict , no single day that God has made that i was not able to drink my day can't be completed without it. I know it is not good but coke seems to control me and not me controlling the coke...too bad right and so pity of me..seems i have talk much...

      I have to agree, the TV adverts are very irritating and they very often target a very small percentage of viewers.

      Very funny poem/commentary. I think, though I get sucked in too, that TV is rather like a tool to hypnotize the masses. It turns some into mindless drones and most assuredly keeps us all from being more productive than we would be otherwise. Having said that, I'm drooling to see the new episode of "Spartacus" Friday night!

      I haven't owned a television for six years; it is amazing how little I miss it after spending decades watching it. One of the great benefits of not owning a tv is that I don't have to watch reality shows. Good hub and interesting.

      Television is a big problem for many. You are not alone. Think about all you could accomplish if you used your TV time differently. I am guilty as well. I have been making the effort to limit television in my household for everyone. Best wishes.
