My Plan For Living to 100 Years

Updated on July 21, 2018

As a person who is influential and very smart, I want to live to 100 years old, so I know my friends and family longer until I die, as well as being able to help more people within my remaining years. Here is how I am going to do so

1. Avoid smoking

This is pretty obvious. Smoking will increase your risk of mouth, lung and esophageal cancer, eventually killing you, and giving unpleasant symptoms

2. Avoid drinking

Also obvious. Alcohol can add weight gain, muscle aches, and increase your risk of a car crash, leading to concussions.

3. Abstaining from meat

Now, I realize not all meat is processed, but plant foods have less sodium and fat than meat, while meat also has cholesterol, which increases the likelihood of stomach, colon and pancreatic cancer (as well as diabetes) due to the way they are cooked or processed.

4. Eat sunflower seeds

They may be salty and strong, but they are not weak in nutrition. Sunflower seeds have omega-3, which supports your brain and heart, also adding 2 years to your life expectancy. These seeds also have zinc, folic acid, manganese, potassium, phosphorous, and magnesium, important for durable bones, the immune system, and preventing strokes and hypertension.

5. Get Sunlight in Moderation

While being in the sunlight for too long can cause sunburns, which can lead to skin cancer if gotten enough, remember that there is this thing called moderation. Sunlight can help create Vitamin D, which strengthens bone durability and the immune system.

6. Apply lotion

Lotion sure feels good when rubbed on your arms and face, but there's more than that. It prevents skin from getting dry, which can slow aging of the skin, reducing wrinkle sizes

7. Laugh

It's more simple than you think. Laughing reduces stress, treating hypertension, and can also increase the production of certain cells, slowing tumor growth and to strengthen the immune system.

8. Get plenty of exercises

Studies show that 150 minutes (or 2 hours and 30 minutes) of exercise can add 4 years to your life expectancy. To do this, I'll vary my exercise, to the point where I can do so both at my house and outside my house, walking, swimming or shopping.

9. Eating 1 Avacado a day

1 avocado has plenty of Vitamin K, and more potassium than a large banana, important for preventing strokes, hypertension, and internal bleeding. Avocados have also been shown to reduce hunger, preventing extra eating, which can lead to extra belly fat and diabetes. There's even limited evidence that avocados can kill prostate cancer tumors!

10. Eat 3 dates every day

The date palm is from the Arabian peninsula. Studies have shown that eating them in moderation increases the copper and potassium in your body, and they have also been shown to reduce the risk of cancers of the abdomen.

11. Meditate

Meditation has been done for thousands of years for religious and relaxing reasons. Because it's relaxing, it lowers blood pressure, allowing oxygen to move through arteries more easily

12. Yoga

Meditation is also relaxing and gets you into many poses, reducing back pain, and bringing good feelings to the mind

13. Drink Coffee

Coffee in moderation has some benefits, like reducing the risk of colon and liver cancer, as well as treating depression, headaches, and reducing the risk of Parkinson's disease. To do this, I'll drink coffee once a week.

14. Being Social

Studies at Tel Aviv, Israel have shown that those who made friends at work were less likely to have premature death than those who did not. To do this, I'll remember to spend plenty of time with my friends throughout life, interact with cab drivers, and on Hindu holidays, my kids, grandkids and great grandkids will get together at my house for socialization.

15. Have Cashew Milk over Cow Milk

The non-dairy industry has been growing, but it may actually be a good idea. While Cashew milk has less protein than cow milk, it does not have cholesterol, and it also has less sodium, while drinking a lot of milk can increase acne, and the risk of testicular cancer

16. Remember my family tree

Diet and exercise is not the only factor in lifespan, but also genetics. My great grandpa on my moms' side of the family lived to 92, and my great grandpa on my dads' side lived to 86 years old.

17. Fast

We all know what fasting is. Abstaining from food and/or drinks for a certain period of time. Its also been shown to reduce the risk of diabetes and hypertension. To fast, I'll avoid food after breakfast every Monday, for in between 7 and 8 hours

18. Have walnuts and sandalwood oil

We have all heard how good for our health nuts are. They have more protein than eggs and plenty of certain nutrients. Almonds have zinc, protein, folic acid, phosphorous, and manganese. Sandalwood oil is a diuretic, removing toxins from urine faster, and it is also been shown to strengthen the immune system, treating esophagus and stomach infections.

19. Consume dark chocolate yogurt

While the origin of yogurt is not exactly known, we know benefits. Consuming a cup of yogurt every day has been shown to strengthen the immune system due to probiotics, and dark chocolate has also been shown in moderation to lower blood pressure, and slightly lower the risk of cancer

20. Use honey

The way bees make honey makes it antifungal and antibacterial, allowing it to last as far back as Ancient Egypt and Ancient India. What I'll do is: I'll consume a spoonful of honey once a month, to lower my risk of Alzheimer's disease, and before taking a shower, I'll sometimes apply honey to my pelvic and chest region, reducing bacteria, reducing my risk of rare cancer called penile cancer, and reducing bacteria overall

21. Move to Hawaii

As an adult, when I start the Dharma Foundation and make money, I'll spend it to move to Hawaii, where pollution will be lower (reducing my risk of mouth and lung cancer), better health care exists, and where I can swim (good exercise)

22. Sip chamomile tea on the last day of every month

Chamomile tea is made from flavoring of the chamomile flower. Studies show that drinking it 30 minutes before bed improves sleep, and drinking it enough lowers thyroid cancer risk

23. Have 1 garlic and 1 tomato every day

Garlic is related to onions. Garlic also has many benefits. It can treat coughs and colds, shorten the length of colds, lower certain cholesterol, and reduce the risk of stomach, esophagus, colon, lung and brain cancer.

24. Drink plenty of water every day

Water is important for humans, as they lose it through sweating and urination. Many experts recommend 8 glasses of day. But water can also be taken in through plant foods. So, I'll have 2 Smartwater bottles a day

25. Limit prescriptions

While prescription drugs can help treat sicknesses and back pain, they can have side effects like headaches, vomiting or addiction. To prevent this, I'll limit exposure, instead drinking water and consuming healthy food to treat my sickness.

26. Have a smoothie on holidays

There are many types of smoothies you can make, from different healthy foods. What I'll have is: Coconut and lime on Holi (vitamin C, Iron and Zinc. Reducing the risk of prostate and stomach cancer), cherry on Shivaratri (colon cancer), nectarine on Budh Purnima (lung cancer), breadfruit on Yath Ratra, Kale and pineapple on Onam, and cranberry on Diwali

27. Turmeric

After I'm done on days where I am fasting, I'll have turmeric mixed with cashew milk, as turmeric has been shown to reduce inflammation and strengthen the immune system.

28. Prevent Athletes foot

Athletes foot is experienced by a few million Americans each year, a fungal infection, which can be caused by sweaty shoes, and symptoms include itching or soreness. What I will do to prevent this is to have a few pairs of shoes, and plenty of socks, and good soap

29. Mustard

Mustard is something Americans generally don't consume, but I think its got taste. Mustard has less sugar than ketchup, can help the respiratory system and prevent diabetes

30. Enjoy life

Studies found that those who enjoyed the life they lived were less likely to have premature death
