Natural Remedies of Preventing Varicose Veins
Nowadays, I have observed there’s a lot of advertisement of varicose surgery or treatment. Many women become aware and conscious of their well-being. No wonder why invasive procedure like this dominates to women’s choice, who wants instant gratification of physical beauty especially elite personalities. Of course, women would like a fast solution. If we have the patience, discipline and perseverance to follow this natural way to eliminate varicose let’s try it nothing will harm unless you’ve try it. This might be a helpful way to women’s out there.
A varicose vein is a vein in which the valves no longer function effectively, and which becomes stretched out of shape because of excess pressure. Varicose veins are one of the most common ailments of the circulatory system.
Valves in the veins divide the veins up into individual chambers. When the veins do not function properly blood pools in the individual chambers, stretching them out of shape.
Symptoms of varicose veins are visibly distended veins. The skin may feel tense, ache or burn. There may be aching, a feeling of fullness in the limbs or a sensation of tiredness. There may be muscle cramps, particularly at night. Discoloration of the skin, ranging from light brown to bluish, may be caused by hemorrhage under the skin.
Symptoms are often worse just prior to menstrual periods because of the vasodilation induced by hormones; contraceptive medicines may bring similar effects.
Varicose veins are common during pregnancy. The problems subside after delivery of the infant, but recur, becoming worse with each subsequent pregnancy. Some women go through one or two pregnancies without problem only to have it occur with the nest pregnancy. Varicose veins tend to be troublesome and enlarge rapidly during the first three months of pregnancy, then are less troublesome or even recede during the final three month.
Prevention and treatment
- Brisk walk for 15 minutes four times a day are beneficial for varicose veins. The blood is forced back toward the heart by the squeezing action of the calf muscles.
- Adequate dietary fiber is essential in the treatment of varicose veins. A full, distended colon applies pressures on the veins of the lower abdomen. This produces a slowing of the blood return to the heart, causing increased pressure in the leg veins.
- Straining to more the bowels places pressure on the abdominal veins, which in turn place pressure on the leg veins.
- Knee- high stocking reduce blood flow, as do girdles, garter belts, and tight calf-high boots. No clothing should leave a mark on the skin. Avoid tight-fitting socks, shoes, or very high heeled shoes.
- Hot baths or excessive sunbathing promote relaxation of the vein walls with accumulation of the blood, and may need to be avoided.
- Sitting for long periods of time without walking around encourages stagnation of the venous blood. A brief walk every hour for only a minute is helpful during long sitting.
- Swimming is an excellent exercise. Swimming involves the lungs, heart, and legs and the pressure of the water on the leg veins serves as a pump.
- Walking barefoot improves venous blood flow and exercises the muscles of the feet.
- Crossing the legs at the knees restricts circulation and should be avoided.
- Do not squat or sit back on your heels except for short periods during exercise.
- Exercise your toes and rotate your ankles while standing or sitting.
- Elastic stockings provide compression of the superficial veins, aiding upward movement of the blood. Put them on the morning before getting out of bed. Pressure in the leg veins is five times greater in a standing position than when lying flat. Even tights provide a mild degree of compression but sever cases of varicose veins require elastic stockings; even support hose are nor adequate. Wear the stockings all the time except when in bed.
- When weather prohibits walking, standing in place and rising up on the balls of the feet will tense the calf muscles. Repeat six to ten times frequently during the day.
- Rest periods during the day with elevation of the legs will enlist the aid of gravity in returning blood to the heart.
- During pregnancy, women may lift the weight of the baby off the vena cava and stimulate blood flow toward the heart by assuming a position on the knees and elbows. Place the palms, forearms and elbows flat on the floor beneath the shoulders, straight; do not sag. You may raise the forearms off the floor, holding your head in the palms of your hands, for a slight change in position, or if you care to read.
- If varicose veins become acutely painful lie down with legs elevated six inches higher than the heart. Apply warm compress to the legs. Some people like to wring a towel out of hot water, and apply a hot water bottle over the towel to assist in keeping the compress warm.
- Use a diet low in fats to prevent sluggish blood.
- A shower twice a day may be very helpful, finishing off with a spray of cold water on the legs. Using a hand a shower attachment, massage one leg at a time, beginning with the toes and massaging upward toward the heart.
- Alight fingertip massage may be soothing to aching or swollen legs. Begin the massage at the toes, massage up toward the heart.
- Raising the foot of the bed four to six inches will encourage return flow of the blood from the lower extremities to the heart.
