Natural Supplements For Mental Health And Emotional Well Being

If you suffer from any type of mental or emotional issue, you may find some relief by taking certain natural supplements. The supplements listed below may help with different conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic attacks, OCD and sleep issues. These supplements may actually be beneficial for your body and overall health as well. While these supplements may not cure you, they might be able to help take the edge off of your symptoms and provide some relief. You may want to speak with a holistic doctor, your medical doctor or a therapist first before taking any of these supplements.


VITAMIN D3

Sometimes people can experience mental and emotional difficulties due to a deficiency in certain vitamins and nutrients that our bodies need. Vitamin D3 is known as the sunshine vitamin because sun exposure helps your to body produce Vitamin D. People with certain mental disorders who do not spend enough time outside of their home, may not be getting enough of this vitamin. This is especially true for someone who suffers from agoraphobia, which is the fear of leaving one's home. Also, when seasons change into colder months, people may be less exposed to the sun, so taking a supplement of Vitamin D3 may help combat the winter blues.


VITAMIN B

If a person lacks certain B vitamins, they may be more prone to experiencing emotional or mental health issues. These vitamins can be taken altogether as a vitamin B complex or they can be taken as separate B vitamins. Some people may lack vitamin B-6 or B-12 in their diet and these vitamins may be helpful in supporting mental health.


OMEGA-3

Taking an omega-3 fish oil supplement may help people who are dealing with depression and anxiety. Omega-3s can also be found in foods, such as salmon and tuna. HOLY BASIL

Holy basil is a natural supplement that is recommended by Deepak Chopra, who is an alternative health guru. Deepak has appeared on the Dr. Oz show. This supplement can be taken to promote emotional well being and to help relieve the symptoms of some mental disorders. It may help to lift a person's spirits and elevate their mood. Holy basil reduces stress by lowering cortisol in the body. It can also be used to help with sleep problems.
