Use of Cinnamon and Honey

What is honey?

  1. Honey is a sweet liquid which is produced by honeybees in their beehives. It is actually collection of nectar from the follower blossoms, which honeybees collect and preserve for their offsprings.

  2. It contains glucose, proteins, carbohydrates, a few minerals like calcium, phosphorous and iron and Vitamin B and C.

Use of honey

It is believed that honey is being used by human being much before their civilization in the form of food companion as well as medicine.

Used as food companion

  1. It is used as sugar substitute.

  2. It is used in recipes like baking cakes, pastries, special chicken dish and many other recipes.

  3. It is mixed in breakfast cereals, fruit salad and in some dessert preparation.

  4. It is mixed with wine and many fermented drinks and beverages.

  5. Can be used for ice-cream or biscuit topping.

  6. It is also used as preservative.

Used as medicine

  1. Used as a face pack to give an added glow to human skin.

  2. It has been used in the treatment of burns and cuts as it has mild antiseptic properties.

  3. A teaspoonful of honey if mixed with few drops of lemon and extract of ginger helps in curing cough and cold.

  4. A teaspoon of honey if mixed in a glass of lukewarm water and lemon juice cures constipation (to be taken on empty stomach).

  5. Honey helps in keeping the teeth and gums clean. It also gives shine to the teeth if applied daily.

  6. One or two teaspoons of honey, if mixed with a cup of warm milk, and taken before going to bed, ensures a sound sleep.
