Never Go to the Dentist Again: Perfect Oral Health Guide
Having bad dental hygiene is one of the main reasons for having bad oral health, so most of us know that we should brush our teeth often and visit the dentist for check ups regularly. But there is more that just having good hygiene. Here are some daily tips to help you achieve good oral health and make your visits to the dentist significantly more rare.
1. Brush Your Teeth and Mouth Properly
Make sure to not only brush your teeth twice a day, but also brush your mouth properly. One brushing should take at least two minutes in order for every part of your teeth to be reached. Many people forget to brush their gum line, make sure that you do.
Also, sometimes when you are in a rush, you often do not give yourself enough time to correctly brush your teeth. If you add another one or two more minutes for brushing your teeth in the morning and you turn it into a habit, you will notice how your teeth become cleaner and healthier. Make sure to change your toothbrush often and to choose a brush with soft bristles so that you do not harm your gums, or a brush that is appropriate for your teeth.
2. Cut Down on Sugar
The biggest cause for tooth decays and cavities is sugar. While difficult, it is not impossible to quit or reduce your consumption.
First of all, your mouth is full of healthy and unhealthy bacteria. When the unhealthy bacteria encounters the sugar you consume, the acidity level in your mouth rises. Your tooth enamel is a substance that serves as protection for your teeth. Acids in your mouth remove the minerals from your enamel, making your teeth susceptible to decays. When you consume too much sugar, your mouth becomes acidic. Therefore, your sugar consumption needs to be reduced.
But what to do if you love sweets?
You do not need to take big steps. If you are used to eating a lot of sugar, a sudden change in your diet would likely make you feel the absence of the substance. Thus, it makes you binge later. Just make sure to slowly reduce your sugar intake while adding other sweeteners. A preferred sweetener by many is stevia and it is a herb that is a lot sweeter than sugar and it does not have all the negative effects on your teeth. If you feel like eating something sweet, but you have already had enough, go for some fresh fruits. Make sure to consume them in moderation as well.
3. Chew Herbs
You can add chewing of some herbs to your daily routine. If you are keen on gardening, you are able to even grow some of these herbs at home. If you are not interested in this, you can simply buy them. Here are some herbs that you can consider:
