Now Supplements Low Cost Quality Vitamins

Now Supplements (i.e. Vitamins) is a major manufacturer of nutritional supplements and which you might recognize from their distinctive Orange, Blue, and White Brand Logo.

I am a big advocate of Organic Foods and eating healthy. I own a Vitamix Blender, a Champion Juicer, and an Omega Juicer. I prefer to get my nutrition from real whole foods. However there are times when I am simply too busy to always eat exactly right. For this reason I supplement some essential amino acids (Protein Powder), B vitamins (B Complex, B12), Acetyl L Carnitine. Alpha Lipoic Acid, etc.

The “Key” to Food Supplements is absorbability and combination. You need to know which foods contain which nutrients, so you know if you might be deficient in one area. And the only real way to know this is to create a food diary, and work with your health care provider to have your blood tested from time to time. There is no point in taking vitamins just to be taking them.

Why Now Supplements?

I was turned on to Now Supplements by a Naturopathic Physician who had met the founder. Now Supplements is actually “Now Foods” and has been in business since 1948. Now operates a 263,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Bloomingdale Illinois. Products are tested in their own in-house microbiology lab. What is important to note about this in-house control is it allows you to know that the products they create are not just repackaged relabeled vitamins from some unknown source. Even Dr. Andrew Weil who is widely respected doesn’t make his own products (They are manufactured by Twinlab).

All Vitamins and Supplements are NOT the same!

Just because Bottle A and Bottle B have the same list of ingredients doesn’t mean they are the same potency. In the United States Vitamins are not regulated by the FDA, and as such you can not make a claim that they are useful to cure disease. So your only assurance as to the quality of a vitamin supplement is that given by the manufacturer. So your best bet is to choose a company with a solid reputation.

Now Supplements has that reputation. Other Brands that I trust (You’ll have to make up your mind for yourself) are Doctors Best, Solgar, New Chapter, Dr. Weil (TwinLab), and Carlsons.

Now Supplements are affordable, high quality, and seem to work well for me. So if you are in the market shopping for Vitamins look for the white bottles with the blue and orange packaging.

I’ll write more about vitamins, protein powders, and supplements in future articles. My favorite NOW FOODS product is their B-50 Vitamin B Complex.

Article Disclaimer: I am not a Doctor, this article is not intended as medial advice. This is simply a Brand of Vitamin Supplement I personally use and have experience with.
