One Good Swim
Just Jump In
I am warm and the water is cool
As I dip my foot in
I feel the chill go through my body making me shiver
I want to be there but my body keeps saying no not yet
As I go to the edge of the pool and I slip my whole foot in on the first step
How every memory of me going smimming quickly floods my mind
All the times at the beach as a kid
Swimming at my aunts pool and her cottage on the lake
Each time different and so much fun
I know I will take a few steps back and get a running start and then cannon ball in
I won't have time to think or stop just as I plop
One big splash
AHHH what a rush
Some people dive and still others like to take it slow and ease their way forward
By walking to their waist then going under like a sea gull going for its prey
Sometimes only resting their eyes just above the waters edge
Now remaining there for the time being since lifting your head above water would mean freezing in the cool air
You don't dare
Looking around you and seeing all blue
I don't know how but I am invisible in my head
I am one with the water
I have turned into a fish
Now I swim back and forth
Side to side
Make funny noises like a baby blowing bubbles
I have been transformed and this is actually where I think I belong
What is your pleasure ?
Come on in
So refreshing and nice
Now I wonder why I waited so long
I am sure I could spend all day here
I know I have to be careful because of the suns reflection off the water
I can get a bad burn
Making sure I am covered with sunscreen that will keep me looking like a lobster when I get out
I usually stay in until my hands turn to prunes
Then I reluctantly leave
I will be back to relive my most favorite water memories
So until that time be careful and safe
Swim like a fish and I can't wait to race
