Updated on August 8, 2015

Being In My Kitchen is Very Comfortable

Anti-Fatigue Gel Comfort Floor Mats For A More Comfortable Stand

Tired at the The End of the Day? Cooking for a family function all day got you feeling tired, achy and just wanting to sit down? Do Your Feet Just Want a Break? Standing for extended periods of time can cause a lot of pain at the end of the day. It can cause overall fatigue in addition to pain in the low back, feet, hips and knees. This can happen very easily if you have to stand on a hard floor all day. It is not good for your muscles and joints, especially long term. Why not cushion the floor that you have to stand on? Less pressure on you, and on your joints. Makes for Happier and Pain Free Life !

This Hubpage Is derived from MY experience in helping to reduce my own foot and low back pain. I actually purchased these mats for myself, and my family because we were all noticing that standing for long periods in our kitchen was affecting us. Low back pain, heel pain, foot pain, and knee pain- we all suffered for a long time.

Why I bought a Gel Mat in the First Place

One of the most high traffic areas in my home is my kitchen. We do a lot of cooking at home. We cook for breakfast, lunch and dinner. On top of that, we load and unload the dishwasher. Plus I do a lot of dishes by hand. I am doing a lot of standing in the kitchen. I noticed a few months ago that my lower back was bothering me, and my guests noticed it too. Most recently my mother, and then my mother in law.

My Personal recommendation #1

My first Mat Purchased for My Kitchen

So this is the location in my kitchen where I stand the most. I purchased this gel mat in July 2012, and I am very happy that i finally got this mat. This is a high traffic location where I am :

  • doing dishes
  • loading and unloading the dishwasher
  • juicing every morning
  • getting dishes

I bought the 72" mat because it is long enough so that I can access about 3 cabinets and my counter top, dishwasher and my juicer. All three very important things in my kitchen. The color is awesome as well because it goes well with the terra cotta I have for the floor. The mat is ultra comfortable, and I notice that my feet don't start hurting as i have standing for long periods of time.

My Personal Recommendation #2

Second Gel Mat That I purchased for my kitchen

In August 2012, I finally got a mat for my 2nd most traffic location in my kitchen: in front of my butcher block cutting board and my cook top. This one I purchased is 4 ft long. This one is longer in width, so that i can use both sides of my kitchen: my cutting board and my cooktop. Again this gel mat is very comfortable. Great if you have any type of foot pain or lower back pain.

More facts about Gel Mats

- Arrived rolled up, slightly wrinkled but went away once we put the mats out
- No Curled Up Ends noted after the mats were there for a few days
- When standing on the mat, my feet create an imprint on the mat, but then the gel mat bounced back right away
- Waterproof, and easy to clean up

To Clean Your Gel Mat and Keep It Looking New

Wipe with mild soap and water. NO HARSH CHEMICALS OR TOXIC CHEMICALS

Here is what I use in my kitchen while washing dishes and prepping food

I actually own two of these mats. I spend an exorbitant amount of time in my kitchen - not necessarily because I want to. Between doing dishes and prepping my food there is a lot of standing that goes on. So I invested in two of these mats. One in front of my kitchen sink and the next one near the stove.

The Most Important Thing about Gel Mats

I learned this after I received my Gel Mats: They are expensive, So It is important to follow the instructions.

- don't wear high heels on the gel mat
- don't use a vacuum cleaner with rotating brushes on the mat
- don't steam clean the gel mat
- don't use the gel mat under heavy furniture
- do not use harsh cleaners on the mat
