The Acid Alkaline Balance

Updated on December 5, 2014

Your Body's Natural PH Balance

Your body had a natural acid/alkaline balance. Medications, sugars, poor diet and stress can all make the body more acidic.

When the body is acidic, yeast, bacteria, viruses and cancer can thrive. And conversely, when the body is alkaline, foreign bacteria, viruses, yeast and cancer can not live.

Our body has a natural balance called homeostasis. When we are too acidic, minerals like calcium are leached from our bones to help alkalize the body. Another way our body tries to protect us from acid is to buffer it with fat and store it in the body.

Luckily, there are ways to naturally boost your PH which should stay at 7.365. Eating more green vegetables and less sugars, meat and dairy. There are also some great supplements out there that are alkalizing as well.

Here is a recipe book that I wrote that covers some of my all time favorite alkalizing green smoothie recipes. I have included recipes for those that are new to the alkaline diet along with 100% green vegetable recipes for those who are veterans to the diet as well.

Finding the right health and supplement protocol can be difficult. We are all unique with our own diets, exercise habits, and health concerns. This can make it be difficult to find the right vitamin program for you.

This health assessment questionnaire can help you to identify your own unique health needs and considerations as well as give you a customized list of recommendations that can help to improve your health. To see for yourself, visit Universal Formulas Cleansing Assessment Questionnaire

Acidosis Symptoms

Being too acidic can show itself in many ways. Some acidosis symptoms that can affect a person are greater fatigue, even when there is little or no mental or physical effort. Also associated with acidosis is a lack of enthusiasm, becoming tired easily, and difficulty recovering from physical activity. Those with acidosis often are touchy and irritable. They sleep poorly and worry too much, often leading to depression.

pH Litmus Stix, 4.5 - 9.0 pH

Contains 80 PH test strips, with use instructions.

pH Litmus Stix, 4.5 - 9.0 pH

The first thing you need to do is test your pH. Using pH test strips, you can easily test your pH with your saliva or urine in as little as 15 seconds.

I recommend testing the PH of your urine first thing in the morning. The results should be slightly acidic. Then, test your ph again the next time you go to the bathroom. If you have not yet regained a neutral to slightly alkaline PH, then your body is having a difficult time in eliminating acids from the body.

Ultimately, not following an alkaline diet....but an acidic diet will eventually cause some form of stroke or cancer. If you look at it most people are rotting from the inside out! We spend a lot of money on looking good on the outside......clothes brands, hair, make-up, skin moisturizers, etc............., but what about the ph level of your blood?

What you have to say about PH balance also affects our oral health. By having an alkaline diet amazingly decreases the risk of tooth decay. Sometimes diet alone is not enough tho and now there is a dental procedure that can help bring back a healthy balance so that the bad bacteria in our mouths no longer thrives and causes tooth decay! Take care of your health - we only get once chance at it.

I have noticed a big impact when I pay attention to acidity in my diet.

[in reply to Keecia] You are right that the vagina is supposed to be acidic. I am referring to the blood. When you eat acidic, sugary foods, your body becomes too acidic and this is when yeast thrives.

A slightly acidic vagina is necessary to prevent infections.

    • profile image

      anonymous 8 years ago

Excuse me, but everything I have ever heard says that yeast thrives in an alkaline environment and that a woman should maintain the acidity of her vagina. Yes, the body maintains a 7.4 blood pH level, but to say that yeast thrives in an acidic environment is false.

I wander if this is related to the Traditional Chinese Medicine concept of the body being "Hot" or "Cold" (not temperature) and certain foods lying either side of that. TCM, from my limited understanding, is all about balance and regaining it. Anyway, I take it the PH chart is based on final breakdown, not initial conditions (ie a Citrus is Acidic, but breaks down to be an Alkali)? Interesting lens.
