Parkour - How to do a wall run/wall climb

The wall climb, or wall run, is what really separates Parkour from Free-sprinting. Free-sprinting is the easier, less intense form or parcour. A wall climb is when you run almost full speed at a wall and then start running up the wall in order to clear either the wall or an obstacle near the wall. In parkour, it is almost necessary to know how to do this move. And plus, it looks really cool.
The versatile wall parkour can be used in multiple situations. You can do a 3 step wall climb to get over a small wall, a 1 step wall jump to get past small obstacles, and anything else that you can think of. You would be surprised at how much you can do with just a wall.
If you want to learn how to do a wall climb, how to do a (parkour) PK wall run, or even if you just want to start running up walls, then you've come to the right place. I'm going to give you the main points of each acrobatic move in simple, easy to understand steps.
I hope this hub encourages you to try parkour, if you are physically capable, because it is really fun to push your body past its limits and see how much you can accomplish. Even an amateur person of parcour will be able to push themselves past obstacles that even semi-athletic people won't be able to do. Just for understanding purposes, the wall run is also called a Tic-Tac, or a Tac, and also a PK wall run or PK wall climb. Lets go learn the Tic Tac!!!
Side note - I'm just a kid who's athletic enough to make parkour happen. I'm by no means an expert and if you really want to get into parkour, go somewhere else haha. I just like writing hubs about how I do things. It's usually not perfect form, but my athleticism helps me to make up for my form. For example, I was parkouring the other day with some pretty good parkour-ers, and they said to only wall climb with one foot on the wall. It's all a matter of preference. Just be smart, wear good shoes, and don't push your limits.

Parkour is a strenuous sport that requires at least a decent amount of athleticism. It is hard on your knees and wrists, so I don't recommend it to people over the age of 50 or people with extremely bad knees. It is meant more for when you are in your prime age.
For wall climbs, the ain thing you need to worry about is having good shoes with a decent grip. The main troubles that bad shoes can cause are anywhere from just slipping as you run up the wall to annoyingly long-lasting stress fractures in your feet/ankles. Trust me, stress fractures are not fun. But if you get good shoes, you don't have to worry about it. Save yourself the pain.
Other than the shoes, the only other thing to worry about is common sense. As you run up the wall, please don't forget about your hands if you're going in too fast. Also, be aware that you could slip and cause any number of injuries. But that's kind of rare, so to speak. Now that that's done, lets figure out how to turn off gravity and climb some walls. :)

Most important part
The most important part of wall climbs (in my opinion) is keeping your momentum upward rather than outward as you kick off the wall with your feet. This makes sense because the less you push outward, the more steps you will be able to take.
The second part is that you always need to be prepared for your next move/step. Although parcour is meant to be done fast, you really need to know your moves beforehand so that you don't mess up somehow, at least in the beginning. If you keep these ideas in mind, you can easily try it out for yourself and you will probably figure it out. It's really not that hard.
3 step Super climb, Mario status
What for - The three step climb is used for getting over objects that are around 1 story tall. You don't have to take three steps, I just say three because it is most you will probably be able to get. You might only need two steps.
How to Run up - Run at a fast, under control, jogging pace as you approach the wall. As you get within five to ten steps, speed up to almost a sprinting pace. Once you get within one or two steps of the wall, slightly dip down to help you get power. Then explode off of your jumping leg, making sure to have your catching leg ready.
Arms - Use your arms to help give you some explosive power. Right when you jump, throw your arms forward like you are running to help give you a little jumping power.
Momentum - If you can't get three steps on the wall, then this is probably your problem. When you push off of the wall, you need to push as vertically as you can. The less you push against the wall, the more time you will have to climb the wall.
Foot placement - You want to put your foot (first one) on the wall so that you land on the balls of your feet and so that you easily can roll your feet up the wall. You don't want to be too high or too low. Being two high will make you push off the wall too much, giving you a much harder times getting three steps in. Going too low will take away from a ton of your power. So, if you are exploding off of the wall but can't get more than two steps, try bringing your foot a little lower. And the same with the opposite.
Climbing the obstacle - If you plan on getting over the wall, catch yourself with your hands and bring yourself up to where you are supporting your weight with them. To get up and over, throw your free leg back as hard as you can to get your hips over the top. Throwing your leg back should get you over the obstacle. 1 Step Jump
What for - You can use this to get over small obstacles like stairs, trash cans, and benches. It's basically like using a wall as something to jump off of. This is somewhat unnecessary if you are trying to escape with speed, but it can help in a few situations.
Eyes - This, to me, is the most important part of this move. You always need to be prepared for your next move. Once you have grip on the wall, immediately switch your eyes to where you are going to land. It helps to know where you are going to go before you even jump. And if you aren't going for speed, it's always a good idea to test out the places that you are jumping off of and on to.
Foot placement - The only thing that matters in this wall run is the foot you jump off of and not screwing up your foot placement. Unlike the three step climb, you might actually be going for height, so lowering your foot placement may be necessary. You want the foot that you jump off of to be the one that's closest to the wall. For example if the wall if to your left, jump off the wall with your left leg.
Don't forget the roll - You might have to roll after you land, but don't worry, because I am in progress of writing a Hub about rolling right now. Other than that, this wall run is simple and easy to do.
Versatility, you have no idea
In parkour, the wall run can have multiple uses. The ones that I seem to use the most are the two above. If you figure out the main points of the wall climbs that I described above, you should be able to figure out any type of wall run that you want to do. You can do run just on the side of a wall, you can use a corner to your advantage, and you can jump off of a wall on your left side to a high obstacle on your right.
If you practice just a little bit, you'll be at Super Mario Status in no time!! By the way, I spelled parkour as parcour in this Hub for Keyword reasons. Sorry about that; I wouldn't do it except that people misspell parkour a lot :p. Other than that, go run around like Mario on steroids. Have fun!
