Pole Dancing For a Perfect Body

Updated on February 6, 2012

Pole Dancing

Pole Dancing

When you think of Pole dancing, your mind immediately paints a picture of a half naked or even fully naked young woman provocatively and sensuously writhing and cavorting on stage in a seedy strip club with men stuffing 10 dollar bills into her panties and cleavage.

Although this image of pole dancing is still common place, it has been found that pole dancing is a great source of exercise and can greatly increase a persons fitness, improve muscle tone, and help with weight loss if used in conjunction with your diet. For these reasons Pole dancing is becoming more and more popular with the general population and the image of the seedy strip club is changing to an image of health and fitness and Pole dancing for fitness studios are opening up across the globe every day.

Pole dancing for fitness includes these moves and a lot more to boot, doing pole dance benefits your body in many ways including Improved muscle tone, Increased strength, Works your cardiovascular system, Burns fat, Increases flexibility, Improves your posture.

it used to be the case that the only male that you would see on a pole would be a fireman going on an emergency call out but although Pole dancing for fitness, used to be a strictly women's only affair there is a growing number of men joining in on the craze and getting all of the health benefits too.

I've always wanted to try some of these techniques, I used to love gymnastics and this is pretty similar. I like the idea of it as sport more than adult entertainment. It would be interesting to compete.

I've always wanted to try this except I'd rather wait and have a pole installed at home and the DVDs rather than drag my butt to class. Voted up.

I don't think there's a pole out there that I wouldn't slide down or fall off before completing any exercises! Great read though. Love the idea and wish anyone who can do it luck! Voted up.

I've considering trying this (as an exercise) but I have zero coordination, the pole would do better than me! Great hub!!

If pole dancing is anything like climbing the ropes in school I think I'll quit while I'm ahead.  The girl in the picture makes pole dancing look so easy though and the guy in the video makes it look easy too!!  Second thought maybe I can do that!!!  :)

PS - just wondering, did you receive leftovers by Fed Ex yet?

It looks like fun, but a quick scan of local classes reveals nothing about pole dancing for the over-50s. Thanks for another entertaining Hub.

Whatever helps people stay fit and feel good, they should do. If they like dancing around a stripper pole, more power to them. :-)

You should have been there the night I had dared my Husband to Pole dance in a French nightclub. I have seldom laughed so much. He was so into it that he had a Lesbian Woman up dancing with him and mucking about stroking his chest hair, and then he made the mistake of throwing himself backwards whilst holding onto the pole, so knocking the DJ's girlfriends glass into her front teeth. The DJ was going mad, and it took another Frenchman to calm the situation down as my Husband didn't speak any French. The whole situation was hysterical, but well worth seeing!

As fun as this sounds I'm afraid that I'm just going to have to start at a lower gradient.. like.. using the pole to hang my clothes on.. albeit I'll put a hook waaaay up high so that I have to tiptoe to get there, possibly even just out of my reach so I have to jump. Yes I do believe this is the way to go.. on a gradient. Eventually I'll be slithering up and down that pole like a pro. Thanks for letting me know about this. I love the internet. I seriously was so clueless about life before this!
