How Does Negative Thinking Affect The Brain.
Proverbs 23:7 KJV
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
Part 1; Positive thinking produces positive words.
- Positive thinking- produces positive words. Positive...
Thinking positive produces words that are uplifting and encouraging bringing life to the soul. Sometimes this can be hard to do when you are not feeling your best.
The Health Benefits of Thinking Positive.
There are many books dedicated to the art of thinking positive. Not only does positive thinking heals the mind, body and spirit, it also produces a light that draws positive energy and positive people towards us. The bible says: "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he." It's important to speak life to the spirit instead of death, this can only be done by the renewing of our mind.
Positive words brings life to the spirit and strength to the bones. Have you ever commented on someone's appearance and noticed they held their head a little higher? Or, as an employer, have you ever told an employee they were doing an amazing job and noticed they worked a little harder? Have you ever told a loved one a certain outfit looked fantastic on them and noticed they wore it over and over?
Positive words are spiritual medicine that heals the mind, body and soul. The same way negative words injure the spirit, positive words heals it. When you say something nice to someone, years from now you may forget what you said, but they never will.
Wisdom Becomes Fruitful in its Season
This may seem like a weird title. No one logically thinks there are blessings in trials and tribulations, but there are. In the book of Ecclesiastes; Solomon says in times of prosperity to rejoice and in times of trials to consider. Many scholar's have felt that Solomon became skeptical in his later years, but that's not entirely true.
Solomon, who was the wisest person who ever lived according to the Holy Bible, understood that hard times should be studied for lessons to be learned, for life has showed us that you can't have one without the other. Life is about learning and evolving and It's hard to grow if we brush over things that are painful to deal with. Wisdom becomes seasoned when we're mature enough to deal with our problems and not run from them.
- What lies beneath a woman's heart? A poem and prose ...
Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive.
Using Discernment and Intuition
In utilizing our gifts for discernment we must be careful to look beyond someone's words and pay attention to the action behind those words. This may appear calculating and take the joy out of new relationships, but it will help us to make wiser decisions.
In my poem: What lies beneath the heart of a woman?
I demonstrated discernment by using a fictitious character to describe how flattering words can be deceiving.
"Her words drip with honey, her mind is full of schemes!"
People may flatter you by telling you what you want to hear but that doesn't mean there is no motive behind their words.
Being able to discern the motive of others protects us from being shocked when we learn people do not always mean what they say.
Renewing of The Mind
If you happen to be or, know someone personally who's always pessimistic, it didn't spring out of thin air, these are seeds planted, watered and, took root and produced bad fruit. Even if negative words are only directed towards others it's an indication of the heart. "As a man thinketh, so is he" Negative words which stems from negative thoughts must be uprooted. This can only be done by the renewing of the mind.
Old roots must be pulled up, new seeds must be planted, and then watered in love with words that are uplifting. These seeds will produce the fruits of the spirit.
- long suffering
Only the fruit produced from these seeds has the ability to speak words that are spiritual medicine. Seeds planted in pain- watered in bitterness- produces bad fruit. However, seeds planted with love- watered in kindness- produces good fruit.
Hurtful words injures the spirit; Positive words heals the soul.
- speak life
- speak love
- speak blessings
Seeds bear fruit of its kind and, you can always tell a tree by the fruit that it bears.
Dr. Caroline leaf's studies. On how negative thinking effects the brain.
Studies have proven toxic thinking causes many disease's.
Medical research has shown toxic thoughts plays a role in many illness's and disease's. Un- forgiveness alone has been linked to disease's such as: Cancer, diabetes, and allergies. Negative thoughts releases chemicals in the brain that affects our ability to reason; this leads to health issues such as: stress, chronic fatigue, itchy skin and anxiety.
Many people have turned to medication to battle mental illness's such as depression and anxiety. What researchers have found, is that many of these disease's can be overcome by the renewing of the mind. The brain is wired to connect to the spirit and spirit to the soul, the soul is where are emotions are stored, and what we act upon. For example:
- anger: causes us to speak harshly and react out of character. We may even hurt ourselves or others if our anger causes us to lose control.
- fear: causes us to be pessimistic, or suspicious, these emotions causes anxiety, depression, worry and feelings of hopelessness.
- self pity: Causes us to be angry, needy, depressed even manipulative.
I could go on and on. These are just some of the examples of how negative thoughts produce's chemicals in the brain, that grow stem cells. I refer to this as bad fruit. If we allow negative thoughts to linger, eventually they will become our words, our words will became our actions. Our actions will become our habits and our habits will shape our character.
Positive thinking releases spiritual medicine.
John 5:6: When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, He asked him, "Do you want to get well?"
Many people would think: " Why would Jesus ask this question? Of course he wants to be well." But you would be surprised at how many people don't. Feeling un-well can become as comfortable as a warm blanket on a cold day. We get used to the pity, used to being left alone, enjoy the fact that we are left alone, because nothing is expected of us. Toxic thinking drains our energy; It becomes easy, it becomes comfortable, it becomes our way of life.
When I became depressed it happened so gradually I didn't know it was happening until I was there. I spoke these words out loud: "I'm so tired of being tired, I want to feel well." I never expected anything to happen, I was only voicing my thoughts out loud never imagining my life would change.
Spiritual thoughts releases spiritual medicine.
Suddenly, a desire to visit a church just entered my heart. I come from a family rooted in religion and although I believed in God, I myself was never a person who regularly attended church. Soon that desire grew to an obsession on studying the scriptures as my eyes were opened to an understanding I never possessed before. Yet again, that desire grew into understanding of why I needed to do the things, that I already knew to do in the first place.
Through that understanding I began to feel better, because I felt better I thought more clearly, because I thought more clearly I made better choices. I began to eat more healthier, bad habits slowly fell away until they were gone. I began to pull away from toxic friends as we no longer had anything in common. If you read my hub: Before removing fibroids and endometriosis read this story; then you know I had been plagued with tumors that caused me a lot of stress. But today through my healthier life-style I am no longer plagued with an illness that left me feeling miserable.
The healing scriptures in the bible releases spiritual medicine.
The end result of all this was my negative thoughts slowly turned my writing and thoughts in a new direction. Soon I was writing spiritual poetry, writing songs of worship and praise; as my thoughts turned more positive I began to slowly release the chemical that produces spiritual medicine. Now my words are also spiritual medicine as I speak words of life, love and encouragement.
I didn't set out to be a motivational writer or speaker. I was depressed and couldn't care about myself, let alone anyone else. I simply whispered what I felt. " Lord I'm tired. I'm so tired Lord!" Never would I have imagined that my words, that first started out as a thought, and then escaped my lips; would travel into the universe and, into the ears of a living spirit who hears.
