Purpose in Life, I finally Found it

Updated on January 10, 2012

Simplicity what a Relief

I have found the purpose of my life, the reason I live. I have come to the conclusion that it doesn't involve money, relationships, social status. The purpose of my life is to simply experience.

There are countless tests on the web to find each individual's purpose of life. Is it to have a career? To find their soulmate? to be rich? I will be honest I have tried some of those tests but in the end it was just a waste of time, I was not satisfied in the results

I have never planned my life to events that I want happening in my existence. I know there are certain people that plan everything in their life, schools, colleges, work, marriage. That would be too stressful but again they need that planning in order to have a purpose in their life.

I on the other hand have taken random opportunities that have come my way and I have to say it has been a very interesting road.

I have never had a specific purpose in my life but to experience opportunities that have come my way. That is how I ended up being in the Marines, discovered other cultures around the world, married my Egyptian wife.

I am in the Marines so stressful days are always the norm. I was driving to work early in the morning the other day when I noticed the sun just rising above the horizon. I was able to just gaze at it for a few seconds and while doing that I noticed the mountains and just how beautiful this sight was. I was able to experience that moment of joy instead of worrying about work and all the stress I was about to have. The interesting thing is that once at work, no matter how stressful the day seemed, my sense of peace and joy throughout the day was as good as the time I was watching the sunrise. I know it may sound corny but this is the most basic I can put it, experience every moment and enjoy it.

I truly think simplicity is the key to having joy, to having that peace within us. People yelling, traffic, competition everywhere, new iphone, the end of the world, why worry about all this, just experience with a good attitude and joy will always be present no matter how bad the situation looks .

Good for you. I call it risk and some people are averse to it. But with risk comes reward. Life has a way of taking care of itself. It usually heads south when you start tinkering with it.

      Well written and understandable.

Ruben, you're right, Happiness is a an attitude, not any particular set of circumstances. It's right there in front of us, it doesn't cost a penny, and it's easier to develop a happy attitude than to gather positions or change the physical circumstances of your life. And NO ONE can take it away from you. Welcome to "The Secret Club in Plain Sight"!!

'I know it may sound corny' - it doesn't. I actually agree with you here. Voted up.

awesome title and hub Ruben! philosophy about life has always been one of my favorite topics and i really learned so much from your hub. How nice it is to go through the hubs of your fellow hubber and you find something new that you've never gone through before.

you are certainly one of the luckiest persons on earth who finds the true purpose in life in terms of happiness and positive living and not about money alone. thanks a lot for sharing!

Voted up and beautiful!! keep writing.
