Quick Weight Loss Tips for the Modern Person

Updated on June 17, 2010

In 2010, as everything becomes automated, men and women have less manual work to do. Our sedentary lifestyle combined to a poor alimentation makes us gain body mass more easily. This article will teach you how to lose weight quickly through the benefits of a healthier alimentation and more physical activity.

In order to lose weight, you have to start somewhere. Quitting on every beverage that is not water is already half of the work as most of the other drinks (juice or soda) contain a high percentage of carbohydrates, which does not only give you too much energy but can also end up damaging your teeth. Professional nutritionists suggest drinking 1.8 to 2 liters of water per day. If you're craving  fruit juice though, you should not drink it in excess and it is highly recommended that you chose one made of real fruits (as regular fruit juice is often sweetened). It also is important to pull the plug on "fatty foods" like pizza, hamburgers, pastries, ice cream or chocolate and replace them by healthier victuals like bread, cereal, fruits and vegetables (they all contain fibers and your body needs a lot). Another important thing is to eat at fixed times of the day, respect your schedule and quit snacking in between meals.

The other half of the work is physical activity. The human body is not made for sitting on a chair all day long. In fact, doctors recommend at least 30 minutes of activity per day. Do not push yourself over your limits though. If you're not used to intense workouts, start lightly and increase the difficulty when you feel you're ready, as going over the edge would just end up hurting you. There are plenty of ways to move so try to find one that suits you best (jogging is not for everyone). Finding an accomplice to exercise is also a good way to give you that little push you need to be more active and bond in an unique way with your training partner. If you have a friend that has the same interests as you, give him a call and try to find a sport that you can enjoy together.

To conclude, Hugo Girard, a Canadian strongman and 4 time World Muscle Power champion, once said "Efforts equal results". It may not be easy but there's no magic potion that will make you slim down, only these quick weight loss tips. The power to change is in your hands.
