Quit Smoking With The Power Of Your Mind

Updated on February 10, 2015

Well lets see, I have quit two (2) addictions in one years time, starting with quitting drinking alcohol on October 27, 2009 and now quitting smoking of only one (1) week as of October 27, 2010.

I wrote a hub about my new challenge of quitting smoking and said I would stop smoking cigarettes on the sobriety date of October 27, 2010, but I decided not to wait for that date to come. "Why put off tomorrow, what you can do today"?

So, I have two things to celebrate tomorrow, October 27, 2010. First, sober one year and second, quit smoking one week so far and many many more to come.

For someone that has smoked two packs of cigarettes per day for years , I can't believe that I quit cold turkey, with no medicine, no patches and all that stuff that is supposed to help you quit smoking. It may work for some people, but as for me, I don't believe in those things. I prefer to do it with my mind and mind only, just as I quit drinking alcohol one year ago.

Anyone can quit smoking with the power of your mind, if you are willing to give up smoking for good.

Your mind is a very powerful thing and you can train it anyway you wish, whether it be for the good or for the bad. You are in control of your own mind.

Using the power of your mind, you can also quit drinking alcohol, as I did, or any addiction for that matter, if you truly want it bad enough and are willing to surrender to you addiction.

Bye Bye Filthy Butts

Oh wow, I remember those filthy ashtrays and that horrible smell of burned out cigarettes. A smell that can be smelled a long distance from that filthy ashtray itself, not to say smelling the entire house, car, boat, trailer, apartment to high heavens.

I bet, who ever reads this is saying, here is a guy that has just quit smoking and is harping down the throats of smokers and just how awful smoking is. Well, guess what, I speak this way because when I make my mind up to do something, I go all out and conquer that dream, just as I did when I decided to quit drinking alcohol.

These dreams I've had, are being sober and quitting smoking in which I have successfully accomplished in one years time and I am damn proud of it.

Get your mind in gear and quit this addicting habit and stop paying the wages of all the tobacco companies.

I have to throw this statement in below and get it off my chest.  It's something that has bothered me and probably many of you too for a long time, and the answer is ????

Do you know what cracks me up with these companies and our Government? For something so addicting such as cigarettes, nicotine, cigars, pipes, TOBACCO, period! Why Is It LEGAL?

There are so many other drugs out there and they are all illegal to use. I wonder why? Do you think that cigarettes, and don't forget alcohol, are all legal because our Government makes money on taxing us on the purchases? My answer is yes, that's why these horrible addicted drugs are legal in our Country, all for the love of money as it is killing us all a little at a time.

I guess they can't tax you on cocaine, meth, heroin, or any of these addicting drugs. Oh, that's right, they said these drugs are illegal so they will just have to arrest us for using these instead, but nicotine and alcohol are legal and can also KILL us just as the ones I just mentioned that are illegal right? Makes you wonder doesn't it?

@ bayoulady, Tell your sister for me Happy Anniversary on her conquering her addiction as well. It is a hard thing, but with the right frame of mind and my positive attitude I will WIN.

      Thanks again!

@ fucsia, I glad you gave up smoking too. Never too late you know. Not to say it is killing us slowly and the cost is enough per month for a car payment or apt. rent.

You have sadly right: drugs like cigarettes and alcohol are legal for economic interests but they are not less harmful that other drugs. I smoked and now that I am free I understand the trap in which I was. I am happy to know that also others decide to follow the way of a healthy life!

@ Daniela Daljac, Thanks so much for your comment and congrats on you quitting smoking as well. That is exactly what I did. I smoke the last out of the pack, saved the empty pack, and said that's it I am through, I quit!!!
