Quotes that hide the secret to a longer, healthier life

Updated on April 23, 2015

Some statistics reveal that we have more older people now than ever before, but I regret to say this that they are not as healthy as the ones who lived a century ago or even 50 years ago. I am sure you will agree but what is the solution out. Look no further. Just remind yourself a few quotes of some famous people. I am hopeful, you will understand and carve a path to remain healthy even when you age. Read on further to remember the words full of wisdom.

“Lack of activity destroys the good condition of every human being, while movement and methodical physical exercise save it and preserve it.”

Plato has so rightfully described the positive impact of physical exercise. Unfortunatuely, our lifestyle has become so mechanised that we have forgotten to make our bodies move and the biggest victim in this is our health. So, you must make an endevor to walk, jog, run or perform any physical activity and make your soul happy. This will increase your body temperature, heart beat, improve your metabolism besides so many other beenfits. Some studies have discovered that exercise makes human cells younger by almost 9 years.

“Most diseases are the result of medication which has been prescribed to relieve and take away a beneficiant and warning symptom on the part of Nature.”

Elbert Hubbard's words above are so much in tune with our unhealthy lifestyle. For almost everything we pop up a pill and think it is the right approach. But sadly, this turns out to be the biggest mistake we tend to make in our life. These medicines are chemicals that do bring relief but at the cost of a lot of side effects in the form of health hazards. So, wouldn't it be better if we can avert this and modify our lifestyle. The change that is needed the most is alterations in our diet or otherwise as we know our health will keep deteriorating day-by-day.

“I think you might dispense with half your doctors if you would only consult Dr. Sun more.”

Henry Ward Beecher is right. Isn't he? The man has an impeccable understanding of human anatomy. Dr Sun provides Vitamin D, such an important vitamin for our body. It is important for the assimilation of Vitamin A and the latter as we know is an important element in so many life processes. Your bones too need it for the absorption of calcium into the body. Need we say more. Isn't it the right time to part with the doctors who are taking away your money and replace it with an inexpensive cure – sunlight. But beware too much basking in the sun can be injurious.

“Sleep is that golden chain that ties health and our bodies together.”

Thomas Dekker lays down the fact which is advocated by so many people but is not followed that diligently. A good sleep (a minimum of 7-8 years) can make you live a longer life and is considered ideal too. A good sleep can rejuvenate the inner systems and make your skin repair itself. It also gives your body rest to regain its vigour to start a new day afresh. A study has found out that sleeping less than five hours can decrease human longevity.

“To insure good health: eat lightly, breathe deeply, live moderately, cultivate cheerfulness, and maintain an interest in life.”

William Londen talks about so many things in one simple sentence. Eat light, do not indulge in overeating. Practice deep breathing or yoga, a form so popular worldwide. It is an effective method of keeping yourself healthy. Be happy, don't let stress take a toll on your health. We all are aware of the complications this stress have on your health. If you can bring changes in your life, you will add so many years to your life. Have a positive outlook towards life. A few findings by scientists back up this thought. It says that people who are optimistic live 7.5 years more than those who do not think positive.

So, devise a plan and live a long life.
