Reducing Belly Fat Faster By Avoiding Common Fat Loss Mistakes

Updated on May 28, 2014

Common Mistakes

Excessive stomach fat does not look good but more importantly it is bad for your health. You should try to keep your belly fat to a minimum even if you do not care about your looks. If you don't you may experience serious health problems that could have been avoided.

I noticed that a lot of people make mistakes when they try to lose weight. These mistakes make losing weight more difficult and often stop them from achieving the results they want. So I made a list of common mistakes and how to avoid them. If you are trying to reduce belly fat I hope these suggestions will help you reach your goal.

Checking Your Weight

Fat loss and weight loss are not the same thing. Do not assume that you have not significantly reduced the amount of fat on your body just because your weight did not go down. Checking your weight is a good way to discourage yourself. Even if you are doing everything else right and making good progress weighing yourself can cause you to quit.

You can see how much fat you have by seeing how much you can grab. One of the easiest ways to check your progress is to see how your pants fit. If you want to keep track of your fat loss wait at least a week between checks. Since the fat is coming off all over your body do not expect to notice a difference right away.

As you lose weight you burn fewer calories. Building muscle causes you to burn more calories throughout the day. So putting on some muscle weight is a good way to lose fat. I do not usually bother to weigh myself. Instead I see how much fat and muscle I have.

Doing The Same Thing Over And Over Again

If you keep consuming the same amount of calories and burning the same amount of calories you are maintaining what you have. So you need to keep making changes if you want to keep seeing changes in your body. Exercising for half an hour 5 days a week is not going to cause you to keep losing fat. Keep making changes if you want to keep changing your body.

For best results try to include some intense exercises and compete with yourself. If you feel you are not doing enough to burn a lot of calories you are probably right. It does not take very long for your body to adapt. So you should be able to increase the intensity or duration of the exercise every few days. I try to improve my exercise performance every day I exercise.

Burning Fewer Calories And Storing More Fat

When people try to lose weight they sometimes cause their body to turn against them. Stress and hunger can both cause your body to burn fewer calories and store more fat, especially in the stomach area. So while you are trying to get rid of fat your body may be trying to store more fat. Try not to go hungry. Eating 4 small meals is better than eating 2 big meals. If you are going to start a diet make sure you can stick with it.

Keep your plan as stress free as possible. Besides causing your body to store more fat stress can also make you feel tired and sick. Reducing stress and negative thoughts will greatly increase your chance of success. Think positive thoughts and be happy.

Focusing On What You Don't Want

Think about how you want to look and feel. Do not think about fat. Instead think about being healthy and having the body you want. I wanted to improve health and my looks so that is what I focused on. Most of my focus was on increasing the distances I could run or bike. I find running and biking relaxing and I ate healthier because I was thinking about my health.

Skipping Steps

Diet, exercise and reducing stress can cause you to lose fat. If you skip one of them it makes it harder to get results. Combine all three methods and you can reduce your stomach fat quickly. Do not expect to look like someone that eats healthy and exercises regularly if you only do one or the other.

A lot of people seem to think they can just starve themselves. As I mentioned earlier starving yourself causes your body to burn fewer calories and store more stomach fat when it gets the chance. It can work in the short term but it is unhealthy and usually results in rapid weight gain.

Most people should be eating around 2,000 calories a day to stay healthy. One pound of fat contains around 3,500 calories. It takes me 2 hours of intense exercise to burn 1,500 calories. To lose stomach fat quickly I recommend you reduce your stress, avoid junk foods and high calorie drinks but do not starve yourself, and keep increasing the intensity or duration of the exercises until you get the results you want.
