Reduce Stress - Do something Crazy
It's easy to get into a rut, to do the same comfortable things over and over. I like to shake things up from time to time and do something crazy. Maybe it will work for you too. Here are my suggestions.
Try begging on the street. Make a creative sign. Sit down outside your office building and ask everyone who comes out for spare change.
Pretend you're a goose. Here in Vancouver, Canadian geese are everywhere waddling along, blocking traffic, eating grass. Leaving greasy droppings like random bananna peels causing all sorts of odd pratfalls and the odd sled dog pile-up. Follow them around, quacking and flapping your arms.
Tapdance in the elevator.
Jump into a river (not from a high place - maximum 5 feet). I had a bad day programming last June. At lunch time I jumped into the fountain outside and it made me feel much better.
Send your resume around. Try to get at least one job offer.
Fly to Thailand and become a monk for a week. Don't let the local ladies and awesome noodles distract you from your new ascetic pursuits.
Shave your body completely.
Post an ad on Craigslist that you have psychic powers. Offer to help anyone that emails you with a detailed question.
Start a conversation with 5 strangers. For example ask the barista what her favorite coffee is and so on.
Visit a nude beach. Walk along the beach at sunset.
Have an eMedia-free day. Abstain from all internet, email, Facebook, YouTubbing, Googling web-surfing.
Save a life. There's always someone floundering around us. And deep down you're Superman - you've just misplaced your cape.
