Staying Motivated to Exercise
Know you can do it!
One of the best things about staying motivated is that you know that you can do it without hesitation. If you are trying to lose weight or even maintain you just have to make sure that you give yourself credit for the work that you have put in already. You have to believe that you can overcome any obstacle and stick to your exercise plan. Yes, it is hard to stick with a plan but once you start out slow you can then keep going and before you know it you are working out at least a few times a week.
Keep a Journal
When it comes to exercising you should go through and make the most out of it and keep a journal. Keeping an exercise journal will help you stay motivated and keep up with the exercises that you are doing. You can even have an exercise program written inside your Journal to ensure that you keep up with your 28 or 30-day program. Exercises journals are great and you will love the fact that you can do whatever you want with your Journal. Dress it up and make it into your own personal exercise book. You can use this exercise book everytime you exercise so that you can keep track of everything and see how you are doing.
Do what you love.
If you are not a runner than make sure that you dance or do something that you love doing. You can lose weight doing pilates, yoga and even lifting weights. You are not bound to one exercise or one exercise series. If you know that you will do better dancing then take a Zumba class or get online and follow a youtube fitness dance video for your workouts, but make sure that you mix everything up so that your body won't get used to the same routine. There are so many different things out there that you can do, make sure that you try them all and then see what you love the most. Jump roping is a great cardio exercise as well.
Grab a Partner
You can even grab a partner if you are not willing to workout alone. A partner will help you stay motivated and you both may be on the right track to losing or maintaining your weights. You can both keep in touch and even workout together. If you don't have anyone near you then do an online workout buddy so that you can both talk through chat and keep each other motivated.
Do it for you
Exercising is something that you have to do for you and no one else. Make sure that when you make the commitment that you are making it for yourself because if you do it for someone else you may not keep your exercise routine especially if someone else decides to eat off the diet or talk down to you. Making a lifestyle change is for you because you have to love you first and then go from there. Sometimes doing things for others can hurt us in the end without us even knowing it. Remember to do it all for your health and your sanity.
When it comes to motivation there are a lot of different things that you can do in order to stay motivated. You have to make sure that you keep a nice journal of your events and even talk to someone that is on the same journey as you. Remember that we are all on a different journey and progress may not go fast like someone else's so don't compare your routine to your friends or family. You are in this for you and you want to ensure that you are healthy so make sure that you do everything you can to stay motivated and on track but we all are human and we can get discouraged when the scale does not move. One piece of advice forget the scale and worry about how your clothes fit.
