Say No To Smoke, The Most Effective Way to Refuse Smoking

Updated on April 13, 2012

Why smoking? this is a common question that usually ask for smoking people. Culture of smoking has influence teenager right now. This is as a reason to get friend. And kind of facilities in society or community. Obviously it was wrong. There are many positive activities to get friends, including the following extracurricular school, study club or another positive activities. This is a big problem for younger or teenager. They try to smoke a little by little. This is the sign of addiction. As a young person, they are very easy to accept invitations. With solidarity or society reason. Maybe some of them difficult to refuse the invitation.

Sorry, I don't like smoking

As a teacher I am very concerned about the current conditions. Many teenagers try to smoke. And it looks common things. Why do they act like that? Sometimes as parents we educate them well at home. but we do not know the condition of our children outside. Therefore, religious and social control have instilled early. To avoid the things that we don't want it happen to our children. Spirituality have a big role to create good habit. As a parents we have to give a spiritual motivation to our teenager, I believe when they have good spirituality they will think twice doing bad things. Better to create spiritual environment at home. Like going to church together for Christian or going to Mosque for Muslim.

At least they know which is good and what is bad. Education also has a big role in affects their minds. Health education such as the dangers of smoking and the consequences that would arise if smoking. Kind of education will give an overview to them to think twice before doing bad things. This can be found at the school. Education give a big portion to manage teenager from bad habit or bad influences. .

Don't do this!

There are several solution about the effectively and politely to refuse friends invitation in smoking. the solutions like :

  • Avoid hanging out with friends who smoke, try to give a reason to refuse the invitation in hanging out.
  • Don't afraid to express your feeling that you are not smoking, and you really don't like doing it.
  • Expand information about the dangers of smoking. I think we know many information toldĀ  that there were many disease caused by smoking. I am not explain in this hub,
  • Convince yourself that smoking is not a tool to get friend.
  • Avoid all of the things that support in smoking, like t-shirts, hats, posters or advertisement by the tobacco industry.

Teenager has long future. All teachers and parents want they become health, clever, tough, polite, and much hope for them. This hub also not for smoking but it can be implemented in various case like drugs. I think as a teacher and parent we had give the best thing for our teenager and always pray for them. I hope this hub become inspiration for me and all the hubbers......thanks.

Love that you did this! I quit about four years ago, and can't stand it for very long. Just being around the scent of cigarettes really is nasty!! So, glad you are helping in the fight to stop this terrible and very unhealthy bad habit. I tell my whole family and friends all the time, hoping some others may stop. They usually want to anyway. Keep fighting the good fight with me!

Thanks, Peggy for your kind word to this hub. I am glad you want to share about your parents. My father also did this. I never give up to remind him about the dangerous of smoking. I have read newspaper this morning, it told to me about more than 600.000 people were die because of they are passive smoker. Wow..... this is terrible fact. They didn't guilty but they got bad effect from active smoker. This is serious problem in the future. I can't imagine how many victims will die because of smoke and cigarette. I pray for us.

Thanks for rate up this hub. Your comment really appreciated.

I never smoked but my parents did and eventually gave it up. When they started the health hazards were not as well known as they are today. Movies glamorized it as they are once again starting to do today. I think that is terrible since they now KNOW the detrimental effects smoking has on the body. Second hand smoke...others breathing it (whether they want to or not)is also bad.

Good hub raising awareness of not only a bad habit, but one that is so bad for one's health and prospects of longevity.

      Rating this up and useful!

Absolutely correct. Parents need to talk to the children early about the dangers of smoking and the must not smoke themselves. Let their children know that they strongly support efforts to ban smoking and how dangerous second hand smoke can be.

Thanks LanceLonie, Veronica, Febrie and Hello. I am not smoking at all. But the fact my environment like my friend, my relative are smoking person. Indirectly I am become passive smokers. I also get a bad effect of smoke. Like all you said I was never tempted also. For Febrie, this is become dilemma to know that our government doesn't do anything. I agree with you , the most of tax income for our country came from the cigarette company. I really understand about your feeling. I wish I could say about this to the government.

It's so ironic that we are as parents, adults, teachers, or people who care really hope that teenagers will stop smoking but the government does not seem to care. Remember that the cigarette companies are the highest payer of taxes and absorb many workers too! I'm sick of the cigarette's commercial that seem to reach the young people with creative activities (like LA indifest, think Black etc ), you know what I mean.

      Great hub:)
