Overview

Chronic Kidney Disease is also known as Renal Disease as well as Nephropathy. All of them are defined as having damage to the kidney or a disease of the kidney(s). You will also see it written for short as CKD.

Your kidney's play an extremely important role in your body. They are in charge of filtering uremia (waste) out of the blood. They also regulate your blood pressure and remove the excess fluid from within the cells of your body.

When kidney's become damaged, uremia builds up in the body as well as the fluid. And blood pressure becomes high.

Continuous high blood pressure causes serious damage to the Kidney's. And it goes the other way as well, serious damage of the Kidney's cause's high blood pressure.

How Is Your Blood Pressure?

Blood pressure is the amount of pressure that circulates upon the walls of the blood vessels. When it comes to medical terminology, Hyper means "too much" and tension means "pushing against the walls of the blood vessel walls. This means, the blood pressure is too high.

Hypotension is when the blood pressure is too low.

Research show's that roughly 70 million of the population in the USA suffers from Hypertension. That means that 29% of the entire american population is living with high blood pressure.

So many people go to their check ups, get their blood pressure checked, yet dont know what is actually going on inside of them. And if you remember anything from the beggining of the articles, having high blood pressure damages your kidney's. The higher your BP, the faster the damage occurs.

So, here below you can take a look at what is actually considered normal, and what isnt.

  • Normal: Below 120/80 mmHg

  • Prehypertension: 120-139/80-89 mmHg

  • Stage 1 Hypertension: 140-159/90-99 mmHg

  • Stage 2 Hypertension: 160+/100+ mmHg

Thank you very much. I was actually writing for another site and i wrote over 300 health articles. They deleted my account because they didn't want to pay me what I had earned. So I decided to come back to hubpages. The only reason why I stopped creating hub's is because im so OCD with this site. It has to be perfect. It takes me a couple days to put together a Hubpage. Thank you again for the comment.
