Looking younger is close to impossible if you are guilty of doing any of these pitfalls. Learn to avoid them by all means.

1. Not getting enough sleep

Sleep is the time when the body performs its functions to repair itself and rejuvenate. Not sleeping enough will show its havoc on a woman's appearance fast. A single sleepless night can readily show in one's face as dark undereye circles, dry and dull skin and worst breakouts.

2. Not drinking enough water

Water acts as a body cleanser and skin moisturizer. The amount of water intake one intakes determines how the skin looks. To obtain smooth and supple skin and clear out those pesky breakouts, water is definitely your ally. Drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day is not only best for your health but also for your appearance.

3. Smoking

Smoking leads to dry and dull skin, not to mention darker lips. Many women who smoke seem to be mindless about the short term and long-term effects of smoking on how they look. The abuses often adds up through time. Besides, smoking also contributes to baldness. If you are smoking right now, think that you could saved yourself hair loss problems later in life by stopping the habit.

4. Wearing too much or dark eye make-up

Make up when done right and in moderation can enhance a woman's appearance and appeal, however, when overdone, it can add more years to your face that you intend. Wearing heavy and dark eyeshadow hollows out your eye sockets which greatly adds age to your face. The same thing happen when one wears heavy dark liner especially on the inner lower lids.

A great option instead is to use brown liner instead of black and line only the outer corners of your upper and lower lids. It is also best to line outside the lid instead of the insides. Learn other make up tricks to achieve a more youthful glow. Put on make up that is appropriate for day and one for later hours. Darker make-up can be worn during evenings but during the day lighter application will do more to enhance your beauty an uplift your face.

5. Over-plucking the eyebrows

Thin and barely there eyebrows may look good for a fashion model on a magazine spread but not so much on a woman in daily life. There is a big difference between bushy brows and looking pretty but it does not mean you have to pluck everything out except for a few strants. Moreover, high and over-arched brows can often result and which also gives that aging effect on an otherwise youthful face. Keeping those browse neat and orderly can be achieved by plucking only stray hairs and getting rid of extra bushy hair without really overdoing it.

6. Tattooed eyebrows

Unless you suffer from a hairloss condition which affects the eyebrows, never opt for a tattoo eyebrow when natural hair will do. It will definitely add years to the face without too much effort on your part. Later in life, many people will bound to lose hair due to age but as for now, enjoy those natural and God-given brows. If you want a well-defined brow, make up often does the trick. A great option is to use powder liner instead of pencil liner to create a softer finish.

7. Worrying too much unnecessarily

Worries, tensions and stress can definitely add years to a woman's appearance. If you can help it, maintain a happy disposition at all time. Realize that problems will come and go but don't let them leave a permanent mark on your face. Be wise and know that all the worries are a fact of life, it is how you manage them that spells the difference. More importantly, don't sweat on the small stuff. Things like household chores not being done or the lawn not being lawn should not be a cause of stress. Having a positive disposition will greatly improve one's appearance.

8. Nagging

Negative emotions always have a negative impact on how a woman looks. Nagging is definitely the fastest way to add years to your face if you do it on a regular basis. Avoid nagging anyone when you can help it since there are other ways to combat this issue. Often honest and open communication without resorting to nagging will resolve it.

9. Sleeping on stomach

Sleeping with the face down is one habit women should avoid at all cost. Sleep on your back when you can. You spend that much time crushing your face on a pillow all night will surely leave its marks on your face through lines and creases that will show years down the road. You should avoid causing to much pressure on your face from any angle. Try to sleep on your back or on your side.

10. Over-scrubbing the face

The skin on one's face is very thin and delicate compared to the other areas of the body. You should treat it gently and with care. When washing the face area, avoid applying to much pressure and rub only going to one direction -- upwards. The face should have a warning sign each time you face that mirror, some that goes 'Handle With Care.' Never subject it to continuous and unnecessary scrubbing to avoid the advance development of lines and crows feet.

All of these tips are so true. I'd like to just add a reminder to stay out of the sun as much as possible and when you are out doors - always use a good sunscreen. Great article!
