Sleep Deprivation Information

Updated on February 23, 2011

.

According to the Wikipedia, “Sleep deprivation is the condition of not having enough sleep; it can be either chronic or acute. A chronic sleep-restricted state can cause fatigue, daytime sleepiness, clumsiness and weight loss or weight gain.[1] It adversely affects the brain and cognitive function.[2] Few studies have compared the effects of acute total sleep deprivation and chronic partial sleep restriction.[2] Complete absence of sleep over long periods is impossible for humans to achieve (unless they suffer from fatal familial insomnia); brief microsleeps cannot be avoided.[3] Long-term total sleep deprivation has caused death in lab animals.”

Environmental change, noise, shift changes, insomnia, night terrors, and sleep apnea are some of the very few reasons for lack of sleep. Sleep is something your body needs to repair, and regenerate. Don’t take sleep deprivation lightly, go to your dr. if you feel this is something that you are experiencing.

sleep is importaint to your health

This should tell you that sleep is VERY IMPORTAINT to your health over all. Not getting enough sleep can have some adverse effects to your health, it can increase the risk of heart attack, stroke, and high blood pressure to name a few.

Do yourself a favor, and get the sleep you need each night. If you are having a hard time falling asleep, and/or staying asleep, talk to your Dr.

There is also natural sleep aids available on the market. If you choose natural sleep aids,or any sleep aid at that, follow the instructions and read the warnings.

You may also be able to fall asleep by not worrying so much. Worry can keep us up longer, and wake us up at night.

Another thing that may be affecting your sleep is wondering when the alarm will go off. Stop worrying, and set two alarms if it will make you more at ease.
