About Blemishes, Spots and Other Marks on the Face

Facial blemishes include spots, marks, dark patches, freckles, blackheads, whiteheads, acne marks, age spots, blemishes, etc, that are visible on the face. It is a very common problem.

Factors like sunburn, atmospheric pollution, hormonal changes, stress can leave various marks on the face as well as on the body.

Indiscriminate use of cosmetic products, extremes of climate, overactive sebaceous glands also cause these blemishes.

Allergies and some illnesses too, sometimes leave such unsightly patches on the skin and face.

About Acne and Pimples

Acne and pimples are caused due to excess oil or sebum production by the sebaceous glands. When this oil is not able to reach the surface of the skin due to the skin pores being clogged either due to the excess oil, dead cells or dirt, bacteria start developing in there and cause acne.

Acne can manifest itself both in a inflamed condition or a non inflamed condition.

The inflammatory acne is exhibited in the form of redness and break outs of pimples, pustules etc.

The non inflammatory condition is present in the form of black heads and whiteheads.

Though acne is mostly encountered during adolescence due to the hormonal and biological changes occurring in teens, it can also be seen in preteens and sometimes in adults.

The Grapefruit Acne Spot Treatment from Citrus Clear will shrink the size and redness of acne in one day. I first bought it to treat new spots, and it worked so well I now use it everyday as my regular acne treatment. I have always had moderate acne, but I haven't had a single breakout since I started using this product. I've tried everything, including Proactive, but all of the other products were too harsh. It did dry out my skin a little, but not nearly as much as other products I've tried. I know it's only supposed to be used to treat spots, but I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good acne medication.

There are, however, some other home remedies which will suffice as short-term measures to deal with the external problems. One of these is white vinegar. Available freely in any supermarket and a product in many kitchens, it can be used as a facial application. After washing your face with mild soap, apply the vinegar using a cotton ball and leave it to sit for ten minutes before rinsing it off. If you have sensitive skin, water it down if you have concerns. Also I found this great book that has lot more home remedies one can try out. Here is the website for that: http://killyouracne.athomebizdepot.com/killyouracn... Take a look…

Great advice. I never had acne as a teen ager, but I do get it now as an adult. I am going to try some cucumber and coconut water. I will start with what is already in my refrigerator. Great hub!

Aloe vera, even unprocessed from the plant itself, feels quite soothing to the skin. I always though that acne was a glandular condition that just came and went, especially in the teen years. I used to suffer from it as a teen, but not as an adult. I wish I had this list back then -- nothing seemed to work. Voting this Up and Useful.

Rajan, I could have used this information when I was a teen. I'll pass it along to several I know. Great information as usual and well-researched.
