Some problems face with exercisers who just want to improve their general fitness

Be it whether you step into a gym, or down to your neighborhood park or exercise corner, you'll see some people jogging, stretching and doing a few push ups or sit ups. I think its great that they take the initiative to keep fit. However, what I noticed is that some of them are exercising in the "grey" area and not doing much to help them improve their fitness goals.

For eg, for someone who wants to improve all round fitness in general for improved general health, instead of just jogging, push ups, sit ups and bending over to stretch, what they should do is that they should address the issues of what they are weaker in. For eg, for someone who is usually sitting down and going for their once weekly exercise session, they should focus more on stretching out their tighter muscle groups such as their shoulders, chest and hip flexors. They should focus on strengthening their back and arms through pulling exercises instead of doing just push ups. Basically, filling up the gaps and addressing their weaknesses.

This just 1 example. Some words of advice for recreational exercisers looking to improve their general fitness - Exercise and work on aspects that have been neglected/weak on.

Yours in fitness,

Glen
