Songs to get you Motivated

Updated on December 18, 2013

This is What I'm Like When I Turn on my List.

First Off..

Let me start by saying that this list is not just a list of songs that I have thrown together and posted here to further my hub count. This is an actual list of songs I have on my iTunes that I turn to sometimes when I am in need of motivation to get started. No this list is not for everyone, but I feel anyone could get something from it. It has many genres, themes, and I feel is well rounded so any listener can enjoy it. I hope that you can use this list to motivate you if you need some reassurance, and I also hope you find time to make your own list so you can go get stuff done that needs doing. So here we go!

Cry - Hans Zimmer

This doesn't sound so good to start off with, but just listen and at about 40 seconds in you will feel like you want to take on the world. This song was written by Hans Zimmer for the movie The Holiday, which is a great movie if you haven't checked it out yet.

Good Life - One Republic

This is a feel good get get 'em song if I have ever heard one! Put this on your iPod and crank it in the car you will be on high for a while! I love it when this song just pops up on my list and it always cheers me up and gets me thinking positive about the future.

Walk Through The World - Marc Cohn

I don't even remember when, how, or where I first heard this wonderful song. It somehow found its way onto my playlist. Listening to this song just reminds me of how lucky I am to have a great girl in my life and prompts me to do better.

Walking in Memphis - Cale Kristansson

Yes, I know it is a cover, but for some reason I really like this version. I am not sure if it is the guitar or the accent or what. Just give it a listen and see what you think. I love this song in any version really as it is just awesome! Just makes me want to take it easy. Stop take a breath and relax. Don't take it all so seriously, and take a step back and breath.

Send Me On My Way - Rusted Root

This one is a classic! You can find it in many films some that come to mind are Bedazzled and Matilda. It is just a feel good song that makes me want to send myself on my way! Begin a journey and start something. It is a song for the good life.

My Next Thirty Years - Tim McGraw

I love listening to this song whenever I am in a transition period in life. Such as new jobs, homes, or places I go. I really like to listen to it on my birthday (kinda lame I know). It puts me in a good positive mood to take on new challenges that life likes to toss my way. This song gets me pumped to continue into the unknown paths of life.

Sometimes You Win - Lee Rocker

This is a great song which I only found because I was going through a rockabilly phase, I grew out of the culture but I kept Lee Rocker. This is my favorite from him, as it is just a good song hat reminds me that now matter how bad it gets or how down I feel, Sometimes I win!

Optimistic Thought - Blues Traveler

Every once in a while there comes a song that gets the blood rushing from the very first note, this is that song. Listening to this tune just fills me with a sense of drive to get out there and take risks and remember that I may not have a tomorrow so do it today!

Soak Up The Sun - Sheryl Crow

I know, I know it is Sheryl Crow and I'm a dude, but I love this song! I first heard this tune when I was headed to Atlanta and since then it has been a favorite on my playlists. This song really reminds me to just take it easy and recharge my batteries before I take another go at it. I listen to this and I re-prioritize my lists and evaluate what I am doing in my days and I get more out of my time. Living a chill life isn't just for beach bums!

Change Your Mind - Sister Hazel

I turn this song up whenever I feel Like I want to shed my skin and leave it behind. When I feel like life has gotten the better part of me chewed it up and spit it out I turn to the radio and this song always gets me back on my feet. It reminds me that I am a good person who still has lots of great things to accomplish and energy to give to this world.

Little Wonders - Rob Thomas

There are those days when I am so caught up in life and what is going on at my job or in my home that I forget to see the little stuff. You know the small things that make up most of life, like a hug or a walk with my dog. This song gets me back in the mind set of remembering that at the end of the day its not going to be the big house or the nice ride I get, but the smell of that perfect morning which I remember. Most of the time it is the little things that count the most.

So There it Is

This is a small list, but it works for me. I love how these songs make me feel. I am a man on a mission and these songs help me accomplish my goals. I hope you have found one or two that can help you do whatever you need to accomplish. If not I wish that you build our own list of inspiration so you can go forth and accomplish whatever endeavors you set your sights on.

Will you be adding any of these songs to your list?

Well, buddy, I've heard of four of them, so I guess I'm not as old as I thought I was. LOL I enjoyed the list; good title by the way. I would have come to this hub because of the title even if you hadn't written it.

      Happy Holidays my friend.

Great HUB idea, Jordan. Music inspires and motivates all of us. You have a wonderful selection that works for you. My favorite Hans Zimmer track is "Time" from the film Inception. Especially, appreciate the clip of Nicolas Cage from Gone in Sixty Seconds with " Low Rider". We all have one of those songs don't we?
