Sore throat and cough are becoming chronic diseases in current working environment. It is very common to see people coughing, sneezing, taking medicine for sore throat. Most people see it as something unavoidable and see it as a part of life, they go to doctor, take antibiotics or take sick leave and rest at home. However, in old times, that was not the case. Food was seen as medicine. For sore throat and cough, there are natural remedies that can easily help to recover and even prevent it from reoccurring. Natural throat remedies work better as they are not harmful like antibiotics. Doctor's guidance and recommendation is suggested in case of serious throat and cough. Here, are some natural remedies for sore throat and cough:

Ginger. Since ancient times, ginger is famous for its healing properties. In India and China, it is used as medicine. It is very soothing for soar throat and assists in reducing coughing too. It helps to reduce the inflammation of the throat. Ayurvedic Ginger tea is very popular in asian countries, where ginger is boiled with tea, mixed with honey and sipped slowly. This ginger tea helps to reduce sore throat, coughing, nausea and migraine problems. Fresh shreds of ginger can also be added to meals as garnish. It adds to the flavor of meals and provides amazing health benefits. Ginger capsules can be easy way to add this herb to your daily regime and to take especially when you are having sore throat. Ginger capsules are easily available online and in pharmacy shops.

Honey and cinnamon. The combination of honey and cinnamon works miracle in healing many diseases. It is renowed for healing sore throat and coughs too. The combination can be taken in the form of tea or directly in a spoon. It soothes the throat and helps to reduce the inflammation. It is good for overall health and the taste is good too. Both honey and cinnamon are easily available in supermarkets or health shops. Cinnamon is available in the form of small brown sticks or powdered form.

Turmeric. It is a golden spice, that is famous for its health benefits. In ancient times, it was used to cure many diseases and recently, it has gained popularity again. It is good for healing sore throat and cough. Turmeric is a root that is easily available in Asian or Indian markets. It is sold in powdered form. When this powder is added to milk and heated up, it acts as a miracle drink. It can help to cure coughing and sore throat. Turmeric powder is full of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, so it can used as a seasoning in every day meals. It adds color, taste to the food and provides the health benefits.

      Very useful hub. I have not heard about the cinnamon-honey combination for sore throat. A new remedy that I learned from this hub. Great! Ginger is a wonder medicine and there is nothing better than hot tea with crushed ginger in it as a good remedy for cough.
